Remarks
I'd rate my college as 80% positive. Some negative things are due to mismanagement of the funds and adminstrative lapses. But that's common to all government institutions. Overall it's great to study here and spend your 4.5 years here.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is rather simple. 1st year - 12 months 2nd year - 18 months 3rd Year Part 1 - 12 months 3rd Year Part 2 - 12 months Total you'll learn 19 subjects in whole 4.5 years of course. Exams will be conducted by college every 6 months. And then at the end of said years, there will be University Exam.
Placement Experience
College per se doesn't provide any placement. However, at end of 4.5 years… there is compulsory rotatory internship in college hospital itself, which is paid. 13000 stipend is given each month to all the students. After completion of internship and gaining your final MBBS DEGREE you can apply for job of medical officer in the hospital. If there is vacancy they will alot you a position and you'll earn atleast 50000-65000 per month.
College Events
Annual Function, Annual Get Together, Medimeet, World Environment Fay, World Yoga Day, Blood donation camp, Various CMEs, Rallies, Speeches, Various programs run by different departments of the college, Extra Curricular sports.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Being Govt Medical College, fees are nominal. 25000 per year fees with hostel and mess expenses extra. It's quite feasible when considering the fees of semi-private and private colleges of the state in which fees are in lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Presently all the loans and scholarship provided to the students are from the Government. No such policy or scheme is running in college. However, if you are interested in scholarship programs, there are several programs from private trusts which may help you get through the expenses.
Campus Life
Labs are fantastic. All the equipment are upto date and maintained well by the staff. Each and every material is provided by government and that too the latest. There is gym in college premises with basic equip. Also the hostel houses common rooms and spaces where you can conduct various extra curricular activities.
Hostel Facilities
No i haven't opted for the hostel as i am localitie. But the infrastructure is really good There are rooms given to each and every student, alone. There are common baths and rest rooms. Each floor houses 20 students with each one having private room.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the alumni network and seniors are extremely helpful. In our field, we rely largely on seniors help of our fellow members and seniors. We look towards them for guidance through these tough years.
Admission
At my time, there was admission through common merit list for whole Gujarat. I stood 282 in that general merit list. I had to visit BJMC amdvd for the admission process where i choose this college. Later i was given admission order and i was enrolled in college. Presently all these is done via online portal.
Faculty
Faculties are really great at what they do. Being a government college, all recruitment are done via proper channels and entrance exams and interviews. It is guaranteed that only best among the best will get the job. All the facilities in our college are really passionate about teaching. They take time from there busy work schedule to impart knowledge to students on how to become a great doctor
