BVM review

My college is well-known in Gujarat so there is a huge competition in getting admission into it and that is why my college gets bright students and a good environment which helps to study and explore more. The negative point is the college needs more technically sound and experienced faculties.

At my time the course curriculum was handled by the Gujarat Technological University(GTU), I'm really satisfied by it. Also the final exams were scheduled by the GTU. We had mainly 3 exams. 1 : mid semester exam (30 marks) 2 : practical exam + submission and assignments ( 50 marks) 3 : final exam (80 marks) The first 2 were taken by college and the 3rd final exam was taken by GTU.

The BVM college is the oldest engineering college in Gujarat State and that's why it has a good placement. College does not provide internship. I got placed in my last year through college placement process and after graduation I joined the company.

Every year we celebrate event named UDAAN which is techno-cultural fest. It have many events including cultural events, robo-war, coding events etc. We celebrate UDAAN for three days. And it was the best experience in the college. Also there is an event named Amul volcano which is huge cultural event organised by Amul and my college take part in it everytime. Around 35 colleges take part in the event and my college won 6-7 times and 4 times in a row.

The college cane categorised in two categories. 1 - self finance department 2 - government departments Government departments do not have fees (1500? yearly) Self finance department is really very expensive, I joined college in 2013 and the fees at that time was 73k and now it almost doubled.

The college does not provide any loan facility. I am not sure but it provides scholarship as many of my classmates filled form for the scholarship. I haven't availed scholarship so I do not have much idea.

The college is very supportive in extra curricular activities. Also college supports sports related activities. College have cricket, volleyball, basketball teams. Also every year we play inter-class cricket tournament.

They force you to live in college hostel but luckily the hostel was full at my time. The college hostel is not good. And no one is maintaining it. The hostel has common washrooms and they are not good I lived in private hostel.

The seniors were not that helpful, also we do not have any contacts of seniors or alumni. Though I'm always there for my juniors. I have taken tecnical sessions so they know me and they have my contacts and I've helped them in placements and in projects too. And also my batch helped our juniors so this condition is improving.

The college admissions is handled by Admission Committee for Professional Courses(ACPC), so after 12th I enrolled in ACPC and in choice filling I've selected this college and based on my merit I got the admission.

We need good faculties in the college. I'm not satisfied by the current faculties. Some of the current faculties have lack of knowledge, some of them don't have any idea regarding new technologies and don't research and encourage students.
