What Students Say
Likes
- Teachers – Teachers in Dubai are better at teaching topics as they have access to UK videos as well.
- Course Outline – Well-planned, with each concept explained in detail.
- Classroom – Very beautiful.
Dislikes
- Career Team – Not well connected with companies to help students get hired.
- Late Night Classes – By the end of the day, we are too exhausted as our classes run from 6:00 to 9:30 PM. By 8:45 PM, our brains stop functioning effectively.
- Cafeteria Prices – The cafeteria is too expensive for international students.
Course Curriculum
- For me, it is not that difficult but for those who don't have background in computers (MySQL), they are facing a lot of issues. Our class consists of theoretical as well as practical. Half our class is on theories and the other half on particle practice. At that time, we are facing any issue or not able to do it.
- Positive: The professors here are good, as mentioned, better than in the UK.
- Negative: The career team there is not that good at helping students find a job. But there is a career fair in our university where many companies will come and collect resumes, but I am not sure with that how many people will get placed as this will happen in the month of April.
Admission Experience
- I only applied to De Montfort University Dubai and Middlesex University Dubai. I was accepted at both universities.
- I chose De Montfort University for its better teaching facility and course subjects. Middlesex University Dubai is also currently not holding a good reputation in Dubai, which is why I rejected it. I had almost five years of work experience so it was hard for the university to reject my application.
- As already mentioned, due to its better teaching facilities and course outline. I really wanted to learn SAS programming, and in Dubai only this university was teaching out of any UK university. At De Montfort University, I received scholarship and I was the first person to join my course since I was enrolled last year in the first week of March.
- I got help from one of their agents who helped me get admission to the university. It took me a few days to get myself enrolled in this course. All I had to do was submit my document to meet the criteria.
- For me, there were no eligibility criteria as they considered my 10th, 12th, university degree (B.tech), job offer letter, referral and resume. The overall admission process was very smooth for me.
- September 2024 intake and this is when all universities in the UK start fresh and the course will start from the 1st module. As there is January intake too, they join in mid-month and miss out on the 1-2 modules, which they cover the last, and it becomes difficult for them.
- 2 weeks of process for me. 4-5 days of acceptable reply from the university. Max to max 3-4 weeks.
Class Schedule
- 3 days in a week and a total of 11 hours of class in a week, same as at a UK university.
- 10-12 number of students in class.
- In my class, 3-4 max to 5 people are from India but some people are already staying there with there families; they just wanted to update there skills.
Faculty
- 1:10–12 students, as we have some part-time students, so every module keeps on changing.
- Since there are fewer people in the class, the concept clearance is good and helps in understanding it much better.
- For a job, some skills are required, but self-study and trying to complete in competition are more required.
- Our team has helped till now to apply for jobs on different portals and also helped if we want to do a PHD in this field with a paid internship.
- I prefer the Masoumeh Tajvidi professor the best till now, as she has motivated us in the course as well as helped us understand the concept in depth, even though in the course it was not important, by giving simple and realistic examples.
Campus Life
- One only (Dubai Internet City) campus is there.
- We have a huge library with few books only, as books are on clouds, a lounge area in that TT table, pools, a football table, a cafeteria area, a hall area, labs, and classes.
- There are many; some of them are Music festivals, dance competitions, faculty vs TT or faculty vs pools, valentine celebrations, career fairs, freshmen party, graduation party, seminals by external company, etc.
- For sport, there is a professional who teaches the student and campus offers a free shuttle bus to the sport area containing basketball, football, and badminton. There are approx. 12 km away from campus.
Part Time Jobs
- I don't know much about all the people who have secured jobs in different fields; only universities know, as we are master students, we don't have knowledge. But from the September batch till now, 7-8 people have gotten jobs.
- The monthly salary is 5000 AED; the rest are on the bonus of converting the lead into sales; they get some amount but that amount I am not sure.
- If anyone has received the full-time master's, they don't have objection; the only thing they ask is to cancel the student visa and get a new visa from the recruitment company, but if you are doing part-time, then you can continue with the student visa.
- Don't know about this, as currently I am looking for a full-time job and don't have any idea about part-time. All I can say is that people generally go for internships or full-time. The internship monthly salary lies in 3000-6000 AED. This can vary from a 3- to 6-month internship. Getting a job takes 4-6 months in Dubai without any contact in company and if anyone knows, then it takes 1-2 months.
Placement
- For us it is not even six months, but for now no one is hired but I know before our course gets over 6-7 people will definitely get jobs.
- The salary after this course all varies. If someone has good skills, they get a high salary but if they have no skills, they get very little.
- We are looking for jobs on Linkedin, Bayut, Gulftalent, NaukireGulf, Oliv, etc. Make connections on LinkedIn and share your project and analysis.
Accommodation
- The university has only given me the recommendation (before moving to a new campus).
- 1241 per month with twin sharing. 2 week room cleaning, a pantry area where 2 washing machines and 2 induction in each floor. Table, bed with mattresses, blanket, bedsheets, one attached bathroom, cupboard (too storing place), good-sized room, a window with curtain, room cleaning services 2 in a week with bath cleaning included. Dustin changing too. Water is supplied a common area to sit and watch TV, a vending machine, sofa and table.
- Our accommodation is the most spacious without feeling claustrophobic, as there are nearby places that are more expensive but have less room.
- 43-45 km from the new campus but from the old campus only 150 metres. In our hostel, many other university people are staying even near campus too.
Exams
- If some are without any scholarship, then they have to give the IELTS exam.
- To complete the admission process, you will need 10th, 12th, university degree or certificates, a resume, passport front and back, a consolidated marksheet, ILETS (this can be provided after getting selected to the university too), and 2 referrals from any company or university.
- There was no interview process for me.
