Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- In total, I have got 11 offer letters from Birmingham City University, Wolverhampton University, Ulster University, etc.
- Despite all of them, I have chosen Sheffield Hallam University due to the highest scholarship being offered by the university despite all other universities, and Sheffield City is quite safe and the greenest city in all of Europe and the cost of living is also very low compared to all other cities in England.
- I have researched all the modules which was offer by the university and done a comparison threw that Sheffield Hallam university was a good suit for me.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- When I applied, it was already late for the September 2022 intake and unfortunately, all the seats were full and they were offering the January 2023 intake which was a bit late for me so for that reason, I did not choose to go with that.

LOR
Tips to enhance your application
- Make the LOR very clear and give at least one academic reference.
- I was connected with my university's entrepreneurship development cell. So I had given one reference of them and one reference from my professor.
Admission Experience
- I have chosen the United Kingdom for my master's as it offers a one-year master's, which other countries don't.
- UK universities' rankings are also very high and the quality of education is a lot better compared to other countries.
- I was looking for a business management program and was getting a generous amount of scholarship from Sheffield Hallam University that made my decision to enrol in the university.
- Sheffield has a very low crime rate compared to other parts of England. My overall experience was good in terms of teaching and workshops.
Class Schedule
- There were 4 days of classes at least in every semester, from 10 to 4 usually, and we were divided into batches of 20 students in every class.
- In the class of 20 students, 7 were Indians and the rest were other nationalities.
- My entire course was assignment based so it was a bit difficult in the starting phase. I used to spare around 2 hours a day for self-study.
Faculty
- Our program was having higher faculty approachability; for any doubts you have, you can mail the professor and they will revert to you whether its a subject doubt or assignment doubt.
- They always help in regards to academic problems; the majority of them were good at teaching. They do provide references, but they haven't done so for anyone in any of our courses.
Campus Life
- Sheffield Hallam has 2 campuses at the moment and one more is under construction. Mine was the city campus.
- There are a lot of extracurricular activities as well, like we were having a tour of York City.
- They even celebrate Indian festivals such as Diwali and Ganpati. Some events were also there in the library as well.
Part Time Jobs
- Majority you get paid more than national minimum wages. If you live in London, you will get paid more than in other parts of the United Kingdom because the cost of living is a lot higher in London.
- Part-time jobs you can use Indeed, LinkedIn, or even carry your CV and give it to local shops. These are some of the common practices for part-time jobs.
- In terms of on-campus jobs, its very difficult to get one. While on a student visa, you are allowed to work 20 hours per week in your holidays; you can work full time.
- There are plenty of off-campus jobs available in the city in restaurants, pubs, off-licenses, warehouses, etc.
- They usually pay over national minimum wages.
Placement
- No one has secured a full-time professional job, rather than 2 classmates. In fact, the job market is not good for full-time jobs in the entire United Kingdom. Average pay is around £30000.
- Usually the lowest pay is £24000 and the highest is £40000. Students usually find jobs threw different job portals like indeed, LinkedIn, and Prospect, etc.
Accommodation
- Online platforms like SpareRoom, Zoopla, and Rightmove. I have booked my accommodation through the university; there are some other portals as well, Unidays. You can go with on-campus accommodations as well.
- A major challenge is if you are vegetarian and your roommates are not, then sharing the same kitchen with them can be a challenging situation for you.
