What Students Say
Likes
- Course Curriculum - The curriculum is very detailed and updated. They teach and cover every aspect of your specialization.
- Professors - All the professors are very well qualified.
- Digitialization - Everything is Digitalized here. From booking an appointment with your professor to viewing your class time table, course material and even your attendance - they have software for everything.
Dislikes
- University Life - The university is right in the centre yet, it lacks to give you a university life unlike big universities such as UOB but thats not a problem because most of the universities doesnt here.
- International exposure - A big NO. I had 100% Asians in my class which includes 70% Indian and Pakistanis along with 20% from South Asia like Vietnam, Taiwan and China and 10% from Nigeria and Jamaica. But, UG programmes do have lots of Britts studying.
- Limited numbers of classes - I only had 12 class for each subject in 3 months which literally disappointed me that daid - 1 class in 1 week for 1 subject. So, if i have 4 subjects in 1 semester - i will only be having 4 classes in 1 week. Then, you are free for rest of the week.
Scholarship Received
Course Curriculum
- The curriculum was more about practical aspects. We had different subjects, and for most of the subjects, we had classes in labs.
- It is an intense course and the professors are really helpful.
- Positive aspect – job prospects
- Negative aspect – nothing at all
- Classes: 2 hour classes for each week for 1 subject
- Number of students: 117 but they were divided into 2 batches. Indian students: More than 60
Admission Experience
-
I applied for colleges in Ireland, France and UK
- Trinity College Dublin – Rejected (Limited seats and not so strong profile)
- University College Dublin – Rejected (They were already full by the time I applied.)
- National University of Ireland – Waitlisted
- EDHEC BUSINESS SCHOOL – Accepted
- ESCP BUSINESS SCHOOL – Rejected (Not such strong profile)
- University of Birmingham Accepted
- Nottingham Trent University – Accepted
- I chose Aston because of the course that i wanted to do – Business Analytics. It is one of the highly demanded courses, and Business Analysts are going to be in every sector in the next 2-3 years.
- Aston ranks in the top 100 universities worldwide for MSC in Business Analytics in QS World Ranking (Business Analytics) and I also received a very good scholarship of £6000, which made my decision easier.
- Aston competes with Warwick business school here despite UOB being in the same city, because UOB just started this degree 2 years back but ASTON has been running this course for quite a long time now.
- In short, for the price you pay (comparing it with other unis, I think it's definitely worth it). My fees are way less than 20k GBP because of Scholarship and i am studying at one of the top-ranked universities for the subject that I want to specialise in. What more I could have wanted ????
- I applied for the September intake 2025 and it literally took 2 days to get my offer letter. After that, I had to prepare for my CAS interview, for which i even had a mock interview from Aston University.
- There was 1 lady who trained me twice and prepared me for the interview. Then, i gave the interview and got my CAS Sheet. Thats how I got accepted in the university
Faculty
- The teacher-to-student ratio – I am not sure about it.
- Yes, the course content is sufficient for me to secure a job in my field.
- No, none of the faculty members help you to find jobs. They will help you to get live projects; that also depends if they know you well.
- I admire Joy and Ozren, the best tutors i have met so far. Even gary and ammar al bazi were very qualified.
Campus Life
- My university has 2 campuses – 1 in Birmingham and a recently opened 1 in London.
- We have all the facilities – library, sports centre with a monthly subscription of £20, student union for students to engage in any clubs or societies
- One of the major festival that took place on campus is Astonbury which is organized in the month of june (every year)
- We do have lots of extracurricular activities in the sense that there are lots of clubs and societies that keep on doing some or the other things.
- The best part is you get lots of freebies whenever there is any event like Career fest or clubs and societies week.
Part Time Jobs
- I have not seen any of the students securing TA, RA or DA positions. It's tough to get, especially when you are a master's student.
- I am not aware of their pay range, as I don't know anyone.
- Some of the on campus jobs are - content creators, student ambassadors of different schools, marketing assistants, etc.
- As a student, we can only work 20 hrs per week.
- It is difficult to secure a part-time job in a small university where there are limited opportunities and so many students competing for that same role.
- Hourly rate is £12.20 and they usually earn approximately 1000 pounds per month if they get 20 hours per week. It is difficult to get a part-time job, especially in Birmingham. But, over the period of time, everybody gets a job. All my friends have a part-time job. The procedure is simple, unlike everywhere -submit your application and then, if selected, they will invite you for an interview.
Placement
- I don't know about the students who secure employment because it's only been 6 months since I joined this university. But the ratio is lower because most of the students keep on doing their part-time jobs even after they graduate so after 6 months of graduating, it is very low.
- Average salary – £32,000 per year
- They find jobs through LinkedIn, applying on Indeed, targets jobs, student circus, etc.
- None of them have been placed yet because we can't start working before our student visa ends.
- Major companies – Lloyds Bank, Newton Consulting, NHS
Accommodation
- Yes, I have used AMBER for finding accommodation for myself.
- The monthly rent for my accommodation is £640 (including bills). It is a private en-suite room with a private washroom and bedroom but with a shared kitchen.
- It has all the facilities like -WiFi, common room, study room, laundry facilities, etc..
- Did not find any challenges because i was clear from the start that I was going to find student accommodation, so I checked AMBER, which is very popular.
- I would recommend you book a stay for 1 month - 3 months because after you come here, you will find lots of cheaper options here, which will be £350 - 400 (lot more cheaper than student accommodation)
- My accommodation is 10 mins by bus, but most Indian students stay in Selly Oak, Solihull, Dudley and West Bromwich
Exams
- They said gmat is required but it was not mandatory.
- Also, the interview was part of getting the CAS NUMBER for my application, after which I had to apply for my UK VISA.
- The interview was very basic. They just asked few questions – mostly basic ones like why do you want to study in Aston' how will the course that you are choosing align with your future goals etc.

Scholarship
- Just received the usual early bird scholarship, which was £3000 and Merit Based Scholarship £3000. Total: £6000.
- Eligibility criteria for Merit based were more than 80% and for early bird, you needed to accept your offer before a certain date, which was usually within 1 month.
- Most of the students received these 2 scholarships because all of them got marks above 80% and also, they accepted the offer early.
- Not sure about other scholarship awards, but do check the government website for more information.
