What Students Say
Likes
- Before I delve into what I personally liked and disliked as a student of History it is important to understand that people from different streams have different experiences at the University.
- The faculty was very approachable and kind and they truly enriched my learning experience at the university.
Dislikes
- The diversity was quite limited in my department but at no point did I feel that I did not belong there and the faculty often went an extra mile to help me feel more included. There are a lot of extra curricular activities to do there and you will be spoilt for options.
Course Curriculum
- I believe it will highly depend on the course you are choosing and the areas within it that you are inclined towards. I had two classes a week; the course was highly up-to-date, and we were taught to conduct doctoral-level research.
Admission Experience
- Exeter was ranked in the top five in the UK for my subject and in the top 50 globally. I was also offered a scholarship based on merit by Exeter, which strongly inclined me towards it. The admission process was quite easy, and the university responded to my emails very swiftly.
- Also, Covid hit while I was 6 months into my course, and the university at all times treated us very kindly and offered financial support to whoever needed it.
- My IELTS score was 7.5, and the rest admission was based on merit and my previous grades
Faculty
- Once again, it is highly dependent on the course. In Business school, it is much higher than in the humanities.
- In the humanities, it is comparatively much lower than in other fields. I chose my supervisors and professors very carefully, and they really enhanced my learning experience.
Campus Life
- It was very inclusive and diverse. There is a sports centre and the library is open 24/7, which was the best part about the university.
Part Time Jobs
- There were plenty available both on and off campus, and I believe the pay can be checked online; it is upgraded every year. The maximum hours during coursework are 20 hours a week and 40 hours during vacation.
Placement
- Due to COVID, I had to leave the country abruptly, and job opportunities were also highly affected due to it. Hence, I won't be able to provide many details on this, as the situation was quite bad while I was halfway through my degree.
Accommodation
- I was in student accommodation, and it was around 500-600 pounds back then. I had a studio to myself. Other than this, there is a common room that everyone can use.
Exams
- I just wrote IELTS, filled the admission form, and submitted the required documents such as LOC, SOP, etc.
Fees
- It has changed now, and depends on the course, I was offered a scholarship of 8k pounds.
