Course Curriculum

10

  • The course difficulty level was high as the assignments ranged from practical exposure to industrial visits. Dissertation topics were also considered as part of your degree completion.
  • The most positive aspect of my course was the course design, and the only negative was the class size.
  • Classes ranged from 3 to 4 classes per week and from 10 AM to 5 PM UK time, depending on the availability of the professors and timetable.
  • Indian students enrolled - 70
  • Others - 40

Admission Experience

  • I applied to the following universities:
    • University of Liverpool - Offer Accepted and Enrolled
    • University of Exeter - Application Accepted
    • Lancaster University - Application Accepted
    • University of Southampton - Application Accepted
    • Queen's University Belfast - Application Accepted
    • University of Edinburgh - Application Rejected
    • Heriot-Watt University - Application Accepted
    • University of Bath - Application Rejected
  • I chose the University of Liverpool due to its academic excellence and research-centric facilities. The university itself offers a wide range of learning facilities, ranging fromthe  LAMBA Data&AI research centre, the YOKO-ONO Theatre, Sydney Jones library, etc.
  • The admission process was simple. I applied through the university's official website with my SOP and undergraduate degree results. I was also offered a £ 5000 scholarship post-admission due to my academic excellence in my Undergraduate degree tenure.
  • Eligibility criteria are a bit strict - You must have more than 7.5 Bands in IELTS to get accepted or 80%+ in High School English. Your academic background should be strong with indulgence in extra-curicullar activites.
  • My overall admission experience was really great. The only challenge I faced was sorting out accomodation but I got through it quite easily as I pre-booked it with the help of University representatives.
  • September 2024
    • The admission process took around 3 months, with the initial offer and confirmed offer after my undergraduate degree results.
    • I started applying to Universities around February and received the offers around March-April.
    • There was a deadline for submitting the deposit, ranging from university to university. Most of them offered a 3-month deadline to secure your seat by paying a deposit amount.

Faculty

10

  • Faculty to student ratio is 1:15, which is good compared to other UK universities.
  • Teaching methodology was purely practical and research-based, with endless resources.
  • Faculty members would not assist you in finding part-time jobs.
  • The faculty of Big Data is the most understanding and research-focused faculty with huge professional exposure.
  • They will always help you through, and you also have the option of PG support.

Part Time Jobs

  • Usually, students secure TA/RA jobs depending on their research capabilities and final dissertation.
  • I do not have any idea about the pay range, but you get university-funded research access and a stipend depending on the experience.
  • On-campus jobs include The Guild, Coffee shops, Barista jobs, Subway, Campus Ambassadors, Helping Assistant, Event Assistants, etc.
  • Students here typically earn 12 Gbp per hour with an avg. 16 hours a week. It is easy to find part-time jobs as there are two football stadiums in Liverpool (Anfield and Hillsborough Stadium). There are fast food joints and private restaurants, too. Coffee shops and retail shops are also an option. PRIMARK also offers jobs to students, and there is a seasonal vacancy at Chester Racecourse.

Placement

8

  • 50-60% of the candidates secure employment within 6 months of completing the course. The avg. The salary range is 30000GBP and some candidates also secure sponsorship on their PSW from the employer. Universities in the UK do not provide campus placements, but certainly help in finding jobs. The major companies that hire from my program is Barcalys, EY, Deloitte, HSBC, etc.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I opted for private accommodation as the university accommodations were pretty expensive. You can always opt for private accommodation, as they are affordable.
  • The only challenge I encountered was the affordability.
  • Private accommodations are also closer to the university.
  • My accommodation was just a 10-minute walk from the main Uni campus.
  • Monthly rent was 464 GBP.

  • I was awarded a £ 5000 scholarship due to my academic excellence, which reduced my fees to £ 23500.
  • There is a payment structure to follow while paying the fees. 60% while enrolling and 40% in January. 2000GBP was the deposit which got later deducted.
  • Monthly expenses were around 1000GBP. 500 for accommodation, 500 for travelling, and groceries.
