My time at Notts

Applied to 3 colleges, University of Nottingham, Newcastle and University College Dublin I was accepted into the first two and rejected by the third one. I had confirmation from Newcastle and was on a waitlist in Nottingham because i had to complete a few more requirements. I was rejected from University College Dublin I was not accepted because the i did not cross the cgpa threshold that university had. Chose this university because it had a higher ranking on the list of colleges in UK and it comes under Russell group which is a well-known brand. Application was pretty simple; it was an online application and there was constant communication through emails with steps to log in to their university portal and upload documents there, which were checked as and when i uploaded them. Pretty clear communication for the application process. Eligibility criteria for my course was a 6.5 cgpa or above (60% or above in my overall grades from undergrad) and a valid undergraduate degree which was in sync with the course i wanted to do and even though IELTS was not required i had given it incase any college needed it I think the application went very smoothly and i wouldn’t want any changes to it. Admission Experience I had applied to three colleges for Masters in Management: 1) University of Nottingham 2) University of Birmingham 3) University of Exeter I received offers from University of Nottingham and University of Exeter. University of Birmingham rejected my application because I didn’t had any prior experience in management and nor had I studied management in my Bachelors. I was from Mechanical Engineering background. So they said that for Masters in Management I would need to have any one in above two things. As Nottingham University was under Russell group, I opted it. The admission process was smooth. I was sent an offer letter. Once I accepted the letter, I had to pay the deposit of £2000. Once the amount was paid, the CAS letter was generated which would be necessary for the VISA application. The rest of the fee was paid in three instalments. The eligibility criteria was to have good academic background and proficiency in English. I had given IELTS and had a score of 7. I applied for Fall intake. Most of the top ranking University has Fall intake rather than January intake. Due to certain circumstances I applied very late which was in May second week. I applied to the following universities other than the University of Nottingham i.e. University of Kent, University of Sussex, University of Nottingham, University of Leeds, University of Coventry. I was accepted into all of the above universities but decided on Nottingham because it was ranked the highest for the course and had the best campus. I chose UoN because it had the highest potential for a scholarship and was ranked the best for the course I had chosen among the other universities that I applied to. The admission process was simple—I filled out the application form, which included my information and a statement of purpose. Additionally, I had to submit my transcripts of my undergraduate university grades and two letters of recommendation from my professors at the time . After this, I patiently waited for my offer letter, which was conditional on my receiving a merit grade in my degree. The eligibility criteria are a minimum 6 score on IELTS, 65 in PTE and 80 in TOEFL . I scored 98 on Toefl. The overall admission process was very smooth and normal and I do not recall facing any specific challenges or hardship. I applied for the September 2023 intake . I applied for the following universities: Loughborough University – Admitted However, it was very expensive as compared to The University of Nottingham. Also, Nottingham was a far more student-friendly place. It is also at a very central location. Even the stay was cheaper. Not to forget the cost of living in terms of the daily expenses. The cost of living in Nottingham is not very high as compared to other universities. It is a student-friendly place. Lidl is not too far from the campus, which is very pocket friendly . They also had the course that I wanted, as I wanted to persue Entrepreneurship and specialise in Sustainability. London was very expensive but Nottingham is a very central location. I applied for 2 colleges in Ireland and one in the United Kingdom. I applied to a university college cork , I got offers letter and also a scholarship but I took it down because the visa process was complicated . University college Dublin I got a conditional offer as my IELTS score was 6.5 and I needed 7.5  , they told me to do my English test again which I didn’t want to take so declined the offer.  For university of Nottingham I got an offer. I took it as visa process was easy for uk .  I chose the University of Nottingham because it was the only college who has a management module for a food degree. With My 12th std English score and IELTS 6.5 I got offers for Nottingham. Only drawback was communication as I used to not get reply to my email quick . I didn’t got accommodation . Big draw back was communication problem from university. I got accommodation when I reached the university. I feel there was no middle person from India to guide. So process was quite challenging. I applied to 4 universities: University of Nottingham, University of Manchester, University of Cranfield and Kingston University. I got acceptance letter from all these universities. I accepted my offer letter from University of Nottingham as it was the most suitable for me. There are many different options to choose but always keep in mind the living expenses too while paying for the tuition fees. Scholarships are also provided in some universities I accepted my final offer letter from University of Nottingham as one of my college friend was also going to the same university. The admission process was completely online and it was pretty much easy. You can apply directly from the university's website. I took help of my councillor while filling the documents and admission process. The eligibility criteria was pretty much simple and I gave IELTS for this. I guess it is widely accepted everywhere. I applied to- University of Glasgow, University of Nottingham, Middlesex University, Queens University, Belfast. I had gotten accepted in all 4 universities and was able to secure a seat. I did not have to worry about rejections or not being able to secure a seat but from my point of view the majority trouble is with your SOP not being good or your marks. I also personally think, it depends on when you submit the application as well- if the university has seats or not. I chose the University of Nottingham. My main reasons for choosing it were- Affiliated with the Russell Group. The university was also known for its career guidance support. Nottingham lies in the east side, which was also one of the reasons since it would not be that cold compartively and the accent is heavy towards Glasgow which might make it hard to sometimes understand people. My eligibility criteria was to score good marks in my bachelors. They did not require IELTS as I had English as a subject in my bachelors. It was a good experience overall. I received offer letters from the University of Nottingham, the University of Leeds, the University of Bristol, & the University of Exeter; I got rejection from the University of Manchester because of some document issue, but I received scholarships from all the universities for which I got offer letters; Nottingham provided me 40% of the e-scholarship. Exeter offered me more, but it was not in my preference at all. The overall admission was smooth, I did a lot of research, and for my domain, i.e., business analytics, Nottingham was one of the best, their career employability is higher, and I also got a scholarship, which was one of the main reasons, and being a small city, Nottingham is cheaper to stay in. I went for IELTS; to get an admission, generally 7 points are recommended. Also, I maintained 8 points throughout my career journey and had 3 years of work experience. I simply went to the university portals and applied the forms based on the priority; I followed the QS ranking and alumni reviews from different websites before choosing which university to apply for. Writing a good and crisp SOP is advised; the reason to select the major and future prospects are needed to be cleared in mind before writing it. I got admission in the September intake. I was a working IT professional in India. I gradually decided to resume my study and pursue the master's degree.
