Ques. Is L.L.B. from JRU recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI), and can I practice as an advocate after completing it?
Ans. Yes, the L.L.B. program at JRU is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). After completing L.L.B., graduates can enroll with the State Bar Council and practice as advocates in district courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India. BCI recognition is mandatory for practicing law in India.
Ques. What is the difference between 3-year L.L.B. and 5-year BA LLB, and which should I choose?
Ans. The 3-year L.L.B. is for graduates who already hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline and want to pursue law as a second degree. The 5-year BA LLB is an integrated program for students who want to pursue law directly after 10+2. If you have already completed graduation, the 3-year L.L.B. is the right choice. If you are in 12th grade and want to pursue law, the 5-year BA LLB (also offered at JRU) is more appropriate.
Ques. Can I appear for judicial services exams after completing L.L.B. from JRU?
Ans. Yes, L.L.B. graduates from JRU can appear for Jharkhand Judicial Services (Civil Judge) examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), as well as other state judicial services exams. The minimum eligibility for most judicial services exams is an L.L.B. degree from a BCI-recognized institution. Candidates also need to be enrolled with a State Bar Council.
Ques. Does JRU L.L.B. include moot court and practical training?
Ans. Yes, the JRU L.L.B. curriculum includes Moot Court Practice and Legal Aid as a dedicated subject in Semester VI. Additionally, Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing is covered in Semester III, providing practical legal drafting skills. The program also includes Professional Ethics and Bar-Bench Relations in Semester V, preparing students for professional legal practice.
Ques. What are the career options after L.L.B. from JRU other than practicing as an advocate?
Ans. Apart from practicing as an advocate, L.L.B. graduates from JRU can pursue careers as Legal Counsel in corporations, Legal Advisor in government departments, Public Prosecutor (through state government recruitment), Legal Officer in banks and financial institutions, Law Officer in PSUs, Legal Researcher, and Law Faculty/Professor (after completing LLM and NET/SET). They can also appear for UPSC/JPSC civil services exams where law is a relevant background.
Ques. Is there any age limit for admission to L.L.B. at JRU?
Ans. As per Bar Council of India regulations, the maximum age limit for admission to a 3-year L.L.B. program is 30 years for general category candidates (45 years for SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates). JRU follows BCI norms for age eligibility. Students are advised to verify the current BCI age limit guidelines at the time of admission, as these may be subject to revision by the BCI.
