Eligibility Criteria
- Master's degree in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates)
- Candidates with 4-year bachelor's degree must have minimum 75% marks
- Valid UGC-NET certificate in any subject (not older than 3 years for JRF, 1 year for non-JRF categories)
Admission Process
- UGC-NET examination in any subject
- short-listing of candidates in 1:5 ratio based on NET score and reservation norms
- Online Personal Interview (OPI)
- submission of research proposal/concept note (minimum 2000 words)
- merit-based selection combining NET score and interview performance
- document verification and admission confirmation
Curriculum: Ph.D. coursework includes minimum 12 credits covering research methodology (qualitative and quantitative), research and publication ethics, and specialized courses in public health. Coursework is offered in offline classroom mode during first and second semesters. Scholars must obtain minimum 55% marks in coursework to continue. Research areas include Indian knowledge systems and public health, traditional healing sciences, health systems management, healthcare services delivery, health financing, health inequity, comparative health systems, mental health, medical anthropology, social epidemiology, non-communicable diseases, human resources for health, spiritual health and wellbeing, health information systems, health programmes evaluation, health data systems, availability and access to health services, health status of marginalized sections, and Dalit and tribal health issues.
