MUJ M.Arch. (Landscape Design) FAQs
Ques. Is there any entrance exam required for M.Arch. (Landscape Design) admission at MUJ?
Ans. No, MUJ does not require any entrance exam such as NATA, GATE, or CEED for admission to the M.Arch. (Landscape Design) program. Admission is based entirely on a Personal Interview (PI) and assessment of the submitted portfolio. Candidates with strong design portfolios and relevant B.Arch. experience are preferred.
Ques. What should the portfolio include for the M.Arch. admission at MUJ?
Ans. The portfolio should reflect the applicant's professional and/or academic experience in design, layout, and content. It should ideally include design projects, site analysis work, sketches, and any landscape or architectural work done during the B.Arch. program or professional practice. Three letters of recommendation are also required, with at least two from former educators.
Ques. What is the scope of M.Arch. (Landscape Design) in India? Is it a good career choice?
Ans. Landscape architecture is a growing field in India, driven by rapid urbanization, smart city projects, and increasing awareness of sustainable design. Graduates can work with landscape architecture firms, urban planning agencies, government bodies (CPWD, NMCG, Smart Cities Mission), real estate developers, and environmental consultancies. International opportunities are also strong, as seen from MUJ alumni placed at firms in Germany and Italy.
Ques. What is the intake for M.Arch. (Landscape Design) at MUJ, and how competitive is admission?
Ans. The sanctioned intake is only 10 seats per batch, making it a highly selective program. Given the small cohort, students receive personalized attention from faculty. Applicants with a strong B.Arch. portfolio and relevant design experience have a better chance of selection.
Ques. Can I pursue M.Arch. (Landscape Design) at MUJ if I have a CGPA below 5.0 in B.Arch.?
Ans. No. The minimum eligibility is a B.Arch. degree with at least 5.0 CGPA or 50% marks. Candidates who do not meet this threshold are not eligible to apply. However, if you are close to the cutoff, a strong portfolio and PI performance may still be considered favorably.
Ques. Are there internship or industry exposure opportunities during the M.Arch. program at MUJ?
Ans. Yes. Semester 3 of the program is dedicated to Professional Training, where students are placed with architecture and landscape firms for hands-on industry experience. Past students have interned at firms like Footprints EARTH (Ahmedabad), Charles Correa Foundation (Goa), and Hafeez Contractor (Mumbai), providing strong real-world exposure before the final thesis semester.
