Q1. What are the three specializations available in M.Sc. Psychology at MKU, and when do students choose?
Ans. Students choose their specialization at the beginning of Semester IV (the final semester). The three options are: (1) Clinical Psychology, which focuses on rehabilitation, advanced psychopathology, and clinical assessment; (2) Counselling and Psychotherapy, which covers advanced psychotherapy, lifespan counselling, and school/workplace counselling; and (3) Human Resources (HR), which covers Organizational Behaviour, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and HRM.
Q2. Is there a Field Internship in M.Sc. Psychology at MKU? Where can students intern?
Ans. Yes. A mandatory Field Internship is part of Semester III. Students undertake a practicum in settings aligned with their chosen specialization, such as psychiatric hospitals, counselling centres, schools, NGOs, homes for the aged, or corporate companies. The internship is assessed internally (75 marks) and through an external viva voce (25 marks).
Q3. Can B.A. Psychology graduates apply for M.Sc. Psychology at MKU, or is a B.Sc. mandatory?
Ans. Both B.A. and B.Sc. Psychology graduates are eligible. The eligibility also extends to BSW (Bachelor of Social Work), B.Sc. Nursing, and other related science graduates. The key requirement is a UG degree in Psychology or a related field.
