SRIHER EMTC FAQs
Q1. What exactly does an EMT do after completing this course? What are the job roles available?
Ans. After completing the EMTC, graduates can work as Emergency Medical Technicians in ambulance services (both government and private), hospital emergency departments, trauma centres, disaster response teams, corporate health units, and event medical services. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, administering Basic Life Support (BLS), managing trauma cases, operating ambulance equipment, and transporting patients safely. Starting salaries for EMTs in India typically range from Rs. 2.4 lakh to Rs. 4.2 lakh per year, with growth potential as experience increases.
Q2. Is the EMTC at SRIHER recognised nationally? Will employers accept this certificate?
Ans. Yes, the course is affiliated with the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC), Delhi, which operates under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). This gives the certificate national-level recognition. Additionally, SRIHER's strong reputation as a premier deemed university and its 2,500-bedded teaching hospital make this certificate highly valued by employers in the healthcare sector across India.
Q3. I have studied Commerce in 12th standard. Am I eligible to apply for the EMTC?
Ans. The eligibility criteria for the EMTC at SRIHER specifies that candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Commerce stream students who have not studied these science subjects may not meet the eligibility criteria. It is strongly advisable to contact the SRIHER admissions office directly to confirm eligibility before applying.
Q4. Is hostel accommodation available? What are the approximate hostel charges?
Ans. Yes, SRIHER provides hostel facilities on campus for outstation students. Hostel accommodation is optional and not included in the course fee of Rs. 15,000. Mess facility is compulsory if hostel is availed. Exact hostel charges are available in the official hostel fee details document on the SRIHER website (sriramachandra.edu). It is advisable to apply for hostel at the earliest to secure a room, as availability may be limited for short-duration certificate programmes.
Q5. Can I pursue further studies after completing the EMTC? Is there a pathway to a degree programme?
Ans. After completing the EMTC, graduates can pursue further studies in emergency medicine and pre-hospital care. Options include diploma programmes in Emergency Medical Technology, B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology (offered at select institutions), or additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Some students also pursue B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences or related degree programmes, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria of the respective institutions.
Q6. How competitive is the admission process? What is the typical cut-off for selection?
Ans. The EMTC has a limited number of seats per batch, making the selection process competitive. Admission is based on a personal interview conducted by SRIHER, with candidates shortlisted based on their 10+2 marks. Based on student reviews and general admission patterns at SRIHER for allied health programmes, a 10+2 score of around 60% or above in the science stream is generally considered competitive. There is no management quota; all seats are filled through the merit-based interview process.
