Ques. Is prior knowledge of Japanese required to apply for BA (Hons.) Japanese at BHU?
Ans. No prior knowledge of Japanese is required. The programme is designed to take students from beginner level to advanced proficiency over 3 years. However, a genuine interest in the Japanese language and culture is essential given the intensive nature of the course.
Ques. With only 2 seats, how competitive is admission to BA (Hons.) Japanese at BHU?
Ans. Admission is extremely competitive. In 2025, the General category CUET cutoff was 298 out of 400. Interestingly, the SC category cutoff was even higher at 306, reflecting the very limited number of seats. Students must score very high in CUET to secure admission.
Ques. What career opportunities are available after BA (Hons.) Japanese from BHU?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers as Japanese language translators and interpreters, work with Japanese multinational companies (Toyota, Honda, Sony, etc.) operating in India, join the Indian Foreign Service or diplomatic corps, work in tourism and hospitality, pursue MA/PhD in Japanese Studies, or teach Japanese language.
