Ques. Is VITREE mandatory for Ph.D. Chemistry admission at VIT-AP, or can I apply with just a CSIR-NET/JRF score?
Ans. VITREE is mandatory for all Ph.D. admissions at VIT-AP, including Chemistry. A CSIR-NET/JRF or GATE score does not replace VITREE but qualifies you for a higher monthly fellowship. You must appear for VITREE and clear the personal interview regardless of your NET/GATE status.
Ques. What are the major research areas available under Ph.D. Chemistry at VIT-AP?
Ans. The School of Advanced Sciences at VIT-AP offers research in Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modelling, Quantum Chemistry, Computational Biochemistry, Electrochemistry, Corrosion Inhibitors, and Aqueous Solutions chemistry. Ans. No. At VIT-AP campus, only the Internal Full Time (IFT) category is offered for Ph.D. in Chemistry. If you are a working professional, you would need to pursue it as a full-time residential scholar. External Part Time (EPT) is available only at VIT-Bhopal campus.

Ans. For VIT-AP campus, the personal interview is conducted in online mode (hybrid/online). The interview evaluates your Statement of Purpose (SOP), subject knowledge, communication skills, and research experience. This is different from VIT-Vellore and VIT-Chennai campuses, where physical attendance is mandatory.
Ques. What monthly fellowship can I expect as a Ph.D. Chemistry scholar at VIT-AP?
Ans. All admitted full-time scholars receive a VIT Research Fellowship. With a valid GATE/NET score (above 60 percentile), you receive Rs. 35,000/month in Year 1 and Rs. 40,000/month in Years 2 and 3. Without GATE/NET, the fellowship is Rs. 31,000/month in Year 1 and Rs. 35,000/month in Years 2 and 3. You can also independently apply for CSIR-JRF, Inspire Fellowship, and other government scholarships.
Ques. What is the VITREE exam pattern for Ph.D. Chemistry candidates?
Ans. For Ph.D. Chemistry (with a relevant Master's degree), the VITREE question paper contains 100 MCQs: 70 technical questions from the qualifying degree (Chemistry), 15 English communication skills questions, and 15 Statistics and Probability questions. The exam duration is 2 hours and is conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) with no negative marking.
