SKDU L.L.B. FAQs
Ques. Is the L.L.B. at SKDU approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI)?
Ans. Yes, the L.L.B. programme at SKDU is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). BCI approval is mandatory for any law degree to be recognised for enrolment as an advocate. Graduates of BCI-approved L.L.B. programmes can enrol with the State Bar Council (Bar Council of Rajasthan) and practise as advocates in courts across India after clearing the All India Bar Examination (AIBE).
Ques. What is the difference between 3-year L.L.B. and 5-year BA LLB / BBA LLB? Which should I choose?
Ans. The 3-year L.L.B. is for graduates who already hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline and wish to add a law qualification. The 5-year integrated programmes (BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB) are for students who join directly after 10+2 and combine an undergraduate degree with law. If you already have a graduation degree, the 3-year L.L.B. is the faster route. If you are a 10+2 student, the 5-year integrated programme is more comprehensive and preferred by top law firms and the judiciary.
Ques. After completing L.L.B. from SKDU, what are the career options?
Ans. Graduates can practise as advocates in district courts, high courts, and the Supreme Court of India. Other career paths include: Legal Advisor / In-house Counsel in corporations, Government Legal Officer (through state PSC), Judicial Services (through Rajasthan Judicial Services exam), Legal Researcher, Law Professor (after LLM), and roles in legal process outsourcing (LPO) firms. Starting salaries for junior advocates range from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 40,000 per month, while corporate legal roles offer Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month.
Ques. Is CLAT mandatory for L.L.B. admission at SKDU?
Ans. No, CLAT is not mandatory for L.L.B. admission at SKDU. Admission is primarily merit-based on graduation marks. However, CLAT scores are accepted and can also be used for scholarship purposes. CLAT is primarily relevant for admission to 5-year integrated law programmes at National Law Universities (NLUs).
Ques. Can I pursue L.L.M. after completing L.L.B. from SKDU?
Ans. Yes. After completing L.L.B., you can pursue L.L.M. (Master of Laws), which is a 2-year postgraduate law degree. SKDU itself offers L.L.M. in multiple specialisations including Criminal Law and Family Law. L.L.M. opens doors to academic careers, senior legal roles, and specialised legal practice.
Ques. Do I need to clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) after L.L.B. to practise as an advocate?
Ans. Yes. After completing L.L.B. and enrolling with the State Bar Council, you must clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India to obtain a Certificate of Practice. AIBE is an open-book exam and is generally considered manageable. Until you clear AIBE, you can practise under the supervision of a senior advocate but cannot appear independently in courts.
