SKDU D.Pharma FAQs
Ques. Is the D.Pharma at SKDU approved by PCI (Pharmacy Council of India)?
Ans. Yes, the D.Pharma programme at SKDU is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). PCI approval is mandatory for any institution offering pharmacy courses in India. Graduates of PCI-approved D.Pharma programmes are eligible to register with the State Pharmacy Council and practise as licensed pharmacists.
Ques. What is the difference between D.Pharma and B.Pharma? Which is better?
Ans. D.Pharma is a 2-year diploma that qualifies you to work as a registered pharmacist in retail/hospital pharmacies. B.Pharma is a 4-year degree that opens doors to the pharmaceutical industry, research, and higher studies (M.Pharma, MBA Pharma). D.Pharma is quicker and more affordable, making it ideal for those who want to start working early. B.Pharma is better for those seeking careers in drug manufacturing, R&D, or regulatory affairs. Some states also allow D.Pharma holders to take lateral entry into B.Pharma second year.
Ques. After D.Pharma from SKDU, can I open my own medical store/pharmacy?
Ans. Yes. After completing D.Pharma and registering with the State Pharmacy Council of Rajasthan, you are legally eligible to open and operate a retail pharmacy (medical store) in India. This is one of the most common career paths for D.Pharma graduates, especially in smaller towns and rural areas where there is high demand for qualified pharmacists.
Ques. What are the job opportunities after D.Pharma from SKDU?
Ans. Graduates can work as Registered Pharmacists in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, community health centres, and government dispensaries. Other roles include Medical Representative, Drug Inspector (after further qualification), Pharmacy Technician in hospitals, and Quality Control Assistant in pharmaceutical companies. Starting salaries in the private sector range from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month, while government pharmacist positions offer pay as per state government pay scales.
Ques. Is the D.Pharma at SKDU offered in regular/full-time mode only?
Ans. Yes, the D.Pharma at SKDU is offered exclusively in full-time, on-campus mode.
