What Students Say
Likes
- Coming from a consulting background I wanted to go deeper in the field of data science and analytics to be well equipped with both soft and hard skills. My course is taught by industry people who can help us relate to the work we would need to know rather than just bookish knowledge.
Required Exams for Admission
College life is an enriching experience. I would encourage students to befriend people from other nationalities and not give in to groupism. Whatever happens in life, focus on the money you and your family are putting into this degree and never stray from that.
Course Curriculum
The coursework is tedious and they are strict. It does however make you industry ready.
Faculty
There are no more than 30 students per batch. Most of the professors are understanding and compassionate yet strict and demand high standards ready for the industry. I have particularly enjoyed working with Prof Chiluiza Dee and Prof Kayal Chandrashekharan.
Campus Life
The facilities are excellent with plenty to keep students motivated. They have provided us with a state of the art gym to maintain our health and numerous on going events to keep students engaged.
Placement
There are a plethora of opportunities for employment. Companies ranging from defense to pharma come to job fairs on campus to provide students opportunities to excel after their education.
Accommodation
I have opted for off campus accommodation. Boston is an expensive city forcing people to take up small spaces and live off lease. I opted for accommodation a little far from the college but it is relatively spacious and my name is on the lease.
Exams
I got 107 on my TOEFL. GRE was waived off then. However, they do look for about 310 as a good score. I had to submit a CV, LOR and SoP. Make sure the experience you share builds around the course you are looking to join or any side interests you pursued in case of switching streams. I did not have any such rounds. I did prepare a friend for one though. She was asked questions around her resume itself. They do this to check if the person has genuinely worked on the things they mentioned in their resume. Ambitious colleges like Columbia even ask for WES which is a long, tedious and expensive process. If you do decide to go in for it, I would suggest starting early.
Fees
Each credit is about $1300 and each subject provides 3 credits. We need to complete 45 credits in total. So the total tuition comes to about $58,500.
