I choose this college- Christian community Professors who go above and beyond in caring for you as a person I would say that my time at Cedarville has been stretching and enriching. I came in with a lot of insecurities about my critical thinking skills and my place in relationships, but my time here has shown me the impact of patient professors and dedicated work, and I have had opportunities to step way out of my comfort zone and grow in confidence. My friends here love me more than I deserve and they have helped me believe that I can have lasting friendships that challenge me to grow in meaningful ways while having fun. safe environment students think deeply and have strong relationships I wanted a program that was academically rigorous and comparable to secular institutions, as well as the opportunity to build a strong Biblical foundation of thought and discuss what I was learning in psychology from a wide range of perspectives and worldviews. Cedarville provided the freedom for both of those.
Course Curriculum
Course syllabi are generally up to date. I led a research project, assisted a professor in several research projects, and was also required to complete an internship where I remained in close supervision by both my site supervisor and one of my professors. We also conduct role plays and case studies in many of my classes.
Faculty
"Faculty to student ratio is about 1:15 according to university records. Professors in my department are generally knowledgeable and approachable, although some are better are articulating/imparting the knowledge than others. Professors who've left an amazing impact: Dr. Charles Dolph (internship supervising professor), Dr. Luke Tse (academic advisor), Professor Betsy Linnell (trained me to do the hard work of critical thinking), Dr. Jason Lee (our conversations helped me internalize and apply my learning to personal belief and daily living) Staff members: Brenda Reid, Debbie Ayers
Campus Life
There are over 100 student organizations on campus, from academic honors orgs to service orgs to nerf war orgs. It provides good variety and community. Orgs generally vary in their required commitment so students can gain exposure to a wide range of experiences. We also have many student government/student body events that allow us to connect outside our regular circle, or bring our regular friends to and have fun there. WiFi is generally reliable. I loved dorm life when I lived on campus. Some people say rules are restrictive but I found that our RAs knew who they could trust and I felt like they always gave me lots of free rein because even if I didn't follow the rules to the T (asked less than 24 hours in advance before bringing an overnight guest, etc.), I was sensible and wouldn't do anything crazy or illegal. Research librarians are helpful and we have great research databases that are accessible online. Ohio Interlibrary Loan is one of my favorite things ever. "
Placement
99% of our students are employed or in grad school within 6 months of graduation. We have good relationships with employers; over 200 organizations paid to come to our most recent Career Fair and reps have consistently said that Cedarville is one of their favorite places to recruit and hire students from. I've personally been accepted to a PhD program that I'll be starting the fall after completing undergrad, but have built good connections with companies that have come to our campus to recruit and plan to stay in touch for future job opportunities.
Accommodation
I lived in the dorms for 2 years. We have unit style (suite of 4 rooms that hold 2 people each, with a common living area) and hall style (like a hotel hallway) dorms. There are common kitchens, bathrooms, and even printers in most dorms. Living on campus typically requires you to have a meal plan as well. Housing costs $2568 per semester and the largest meal plan is $2219 per semester. I never needed the biggest meal plan and never had too little to eat. Now I live off campus with a rental rate of $250/month. This is on the cheaper end and most students pay between $300 and $400. Food costs me about $50 a month. "

My scores: SAT 1480/1600. Admission requirements: standardized tests not currently required
