Likes

Dislikes
- There were very limited funds for hiring students for part times

- The more importance to undergrad students unlike master students
Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- Montclair State University offers a unique curriculum of STEM-designated courses, offering a strong blend of practical and theoretical areas like software engineering, AI, databases, etc.
- The university also provides a lot of research opportunities and is also tied up with a lot of startups for students to get real-time experience so these factors sounded like me.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- I am not exactly sure what went wrong but I feel like admissions must have been completed; that's the reason they didn't roll me into their college. I applied late march and most of the students already have admissions so that made me the least preference for all universities.

Tips to enhance your application
- Be more natural and honest. Explain clearly what you feel about the university and why you want to be part of it. Tell the complete story of what made you think about the university and your academic journey.
Admission Experience
- I am left with more options other than Montclair State University but I want to get into this because it's located nearer to York City, where World IT is located, which would be helpful for me to secure jobs. I also like the vibe over here. Montclair is also one of the colleges with fewer international students, which makes the experience more natural, like studying abroad.
Class Schedule
- There would be at least 2 to 3 classes per week, depending upon how many subjects you've chosen. Classes for master students would be between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Strength of class would be 30 to 40. 50 percent of students were Indian in my class.
- Usually 2 to 3 hours per day is enough to cover assignments and self-study.
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio per class would be 10:1. Vaibhav Anu, Bharath Kumar Samanthula, and Boxiang Dnog were the best faculties I have experienced in the university and this doesn't mean others are not good, but I like these professors the most. Some professors try their level best to help in securing part- or full-time jobs for students
Campus Life
- Each department has its own campus, which is huge and vast with ample amount of space available. All facilities, whatever we can name, are available on the campus and students would be overwhelmed.
- There were many events that were popular, as they celebrated all the special days irrespective of the student's nationality.
Part Time Jobs
- Students get paid around 16 to 18 depending upon the roles they are offered. Mainly importance would be given to undergrads as they would be staying on campus for 4 years, unlike master students who leave the campus in 2 years. I tried hard to get oncampus job but I was really close to getting one, but they took someone else. I tried in the dining section as well, but no luck. Easy for undergrads to get part-time jobs, unlike master students.
- TA/RA/DA roles are given based on academic performance and also based on interviews; CGPA would also matter the most. It's basically a first come, first served basis; students who approach professors for jobs would be given initial importance. On-campus jobs can be applied for through handshakes, but they are mainly given to undergrads. 20 hours per week is allowed.
Placement
- 50 percent of students secure jobs after their course, depending upon their merit basis. Salary ranges from $50,000 to $150,000 depending upon the field you graduated from and also your skills. Students find jobs through career fairs, LinkedIn and such online platforms.
Accommodation
- Zillow and apartments.com are the websites where you can find the accommodations for the location you need. Mainly lease signing and location fixing would be major issues. You can also join the WhatsApp groups or Facebook groups of the university and find accommodations. Search for seniors from your university and get into their accommodations that would help you most.
