Likes
- One of the best university campus life as ranked by several renowned rating websites. Very research oriented and has several active Nobel prize winners in different departments. Austin is one of the best cities to live in the US.
Dislikes
- Very limited intake because of which the Alumni network for some programs might be lower. Alumni network is very significant when it comes to internships and job search.

Course Curriculum
- Most of the courses in the US are updated to the current market requirements and trends; UT Austin is knows for it's research and is highly funded by the government. One of the richest universities because of the research grants and endowments.
Admission Experience
- Ranking (Top 10 in the US); TA and RA positions that come with scholarship benefits up to 100% tuition fee waivers.
- Highly competitive admission intake process that requires a profile with High GPA scores (>9/10), high GRE scores and research background.
- A lot of IIT'ians choose this university for their post graduate and PHD programs.
Faculty
- Faculty: Student - 1:20 approx; most of them are knows for their research contribution in the industry.
Campus Life
- Campus: It's officially declared to have one of the best campus life amongst the US universities, Austin City: Music capital of the US and one of most livable cities.
- The campus and downtown are next to each other so a lot of activities, restaurants to explore around.
Part Time Jobs
- 20 HRS part time allowed in the first 2 semesters, up to 40 after that.
- Average pay is $12-$25 depending on the role, easy to find on campus jobs and high percentage of PHD / Master students can get into RA and TA positions.
Placement
- Students have to find the jobs themselves through networking, LinkedIn, internships. But they are recognized by the recruiters because of the reputation of the institution in the industry for all programs.
- Salary is as per the current market conditions. Very rare that students are not able to find full time opportunities after they graduate but the again depends on the candidate and their strategy to find jobs. The key is to start applying early.
Accommodation
- Whatsapp groups and seniors are the best way to find your housing, rent is around $600-$1000 per month depending on sharing or renting a bedroom for yourself.
Exams
- My Test Scores: GRE 326/340; GPA 9.4/10; TOEFL 111/120.
- Exams consider- GRE, TOEFL/IELTS; Statement of Purpose, CV, Professional and academic reference letters.
Fees
- Around $13,000 per semester for tuition including insurance. And around $1000 for living expenses per month.
