What Students Say
Likes
- Environment, activities, campus life, students, eatery joints in the area.
Dislikes
- Safety, faculty, lack of international students
Course Curriculum
- The course syllabus was updated and quite relevant in most of my courses. There was not much industrial exposure or research experience. Usually 2-3 classes run a day, but it can go upto 4.
- Timings can go from 8 AM to 6 PM or even later. The average number depends on the class. Organic chemistry was a huge cohort, which could be up to 300 students, whereas some of my psychology classes had about 25 people.
Admission Experience
- I chose this college because it was close to my cousin's house, which was important to me as I was moving to a new country. I chose the school of arts and sciences as I was still deciding on my major, and they had the option of both biology and psychology.
- SAT - 1310/1600, I did not give any other exams as I was in IB.
Faculty
- For some classes, the faculty-to-student ratio can be quite high. The faculty is okay, but I do not think they were always very helpful. They may not be approachable sometimes, especially for larger classes.
- However, it really depends on professor to professor. Dr. Nelson for Systems Physiology is an amazing professor and teaches really well.
Campus Life
- There are many clubs that you can join, which you have a chance to see at the involvement fair. Many events and extracurriculars take place, which you can see on Instagram or the Rutgers App. There were 4 libraries and 4 sports facilities, as there were 4 campuses.
Part Time Jobs
- I do not know how much students were earning on campus. I worked off campus and earned about $16-18 an hour. As I am a US citizen, I am not sure how the international students apply.
- I also do not know the maximum hours, as I did not have a cap. It can be difficult to secure on-campus jobs as there are many people trying to apply. Most people secure TA or RA jobs, from what I understand.
Placement
- I am not sure about what the % is for employment within 6 months. I am not sure about what the average salary range is upon graduation. Students may find jobs through job fairs on campus or through internships.
- LinkedIn is also a great platform to find jobs, as it becomes easier to connect with people and score referrals.
Accommodation
- My accommodation was average. I did not use any groups. For the academic year, the cost for accommodation was around $8000. Facilities included were the common rooms and a common kitchen on the ground floor.
- There were laundry facilities in the basement for the whole building to use. Washrooms were shared by the whole floor.
Exams
- SAT. Statement of purpose and LOR were the required documents.
Fees
- It was about $20000.
