Academic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 hours of coursework.
• Bachelor's degree in any field, but some programming experience preferred.
• A 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 U.S. scale is typically equivalent to around 70–75% in the Indian grading system, depending on the university and its evaluation criteria.
• All applicants must choose an area of focus that most closely matches their interests and note this on the online application.

English Proficiency Score

• IETLS: Score of 6.0 overall with no individual score below 5.0. / applicants requesting funding consideration must have an overall band score of 7.0 with no individual score below 6.0
• TOEFL: Score of 80 on the Internet exam (iBT) or 550 on the paper exam / applicants requesting funding consideration must have 600 on paper-based; or 100 on Internet-based
• PTE Academic: Score of 53 or higher on the PTE Academic Test. / applicants requesting funding consideration must have 68.

• Current resumé: A current résumé or curriculum vitae (CV) should be uploaded with the online application form in .pdf or .docx format.
• Statement of purpose: In 250–500 words, explain why you want to pursue graduate study at George Washington University. Include your academic goals, research interests, career plans, and relevant qualifications such as academic, professional, and community achievements.
• Prior academic records: Applicants are required to upload and submit copies of transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended, whether or not the program was completed or the credit appears as a transfer credit on another transcript. International applicants should upload only the English-language version of their transcripts. Applicants who have earned a degree from an Indian university are required to submit individual semester marksheets.
• Letters of recommendation: Two (2) recommendations required for M.S. applicants. If possible, one recommendation should be from your advisor at the institution from which you earned your highest degree.
• Standardized test scores: The GRE General Test is optional for all applicants. For applicants who want to submit scores, they must be submitted officially from ETS using the institutional code 5246.
• English proficiency: All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement
• Passport: Include a photocopy of the biographic/identification page of your passport with your application.
• Visa: Submit your visa information with your application to expedite that portion of the process
• Financial support documents: showing proof of sufficient funding to cover all educational costs and living expenses for the full length of your academic program
