Dr. Amisha Shah is a highly experienced professional with a remarkable 22-year career, currently serving as the Head of the Department and Assistant Professor at CK Pithawala College of Engineering and Technology. She holds a PhD along with a master's degree in Technology (M. Tech) and a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering (BE). Driven by a passion for cutting-edge technology, her primary areas of interest lie in image processing, video processing, and machine learning. With a wealth of academic achievements and a diverse educational background, Dr. Shah brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, contributing significantly to the field of engineering and technology.

Being the HOD, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?
As the Head of the Department at CK Pithawala College of Engineering and Technology, our crucial role is to shape the academic environment and ensure the overall well-being of students. Our responsibilities are diverse and encompass various facets of academic and administrative leadership. Our main role is to provide strategic direction to the department, oversee curriculum development, and ensure that the academic programs align with industry standards and technological advancements.
How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
We take a proactive approach to nurturing our students. Within our department, we engage in numerous activities aimed at fostering open communication and establishing healthy relationships between students and faculty. Recognising the sensitivity of today's youth, we approach them with care, treating them as individuals deserving of attention and support.
How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?
Our main focus is that when a student goes into the outer world, he or she is well prepared. For that, we design the curriculum in such a way that it helps students sustain and uplift their careers. Along with that, we have many industry collaborations, internship opportunities, and proper labs and facilities.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
Today, technology is evolving very fast. The changes are happening very rapidly. Thus, competition is also increasing. For that, we help students with practical knowledge and soft skills as well. We also run skill development programs, mentorship programs, mock interviews, workshops, etc. From there, students can get an idea and the confidence to cope with outside competition.
What are the best practices offered by your department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?
In our electronics and communication departments, we focus on practical and theoretical knowledge. The practical approach helps students get real time experience on projects and this helps them get an overview of the projects. We run mentorship programs, projects, and skill development programs, from which students gain the necessary skills.
What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?
Our greatest strength is our team. Our faculty are cooperative and highly qualified. They always help students with their problems in real time. Along with that, our students are also our strength. Our students are always ready to manage our workflow and curriculum activities.
What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?
The preferences of today's youth are evolving rapidly in accordance with their interests. Students should concentrate on a specific domain and strive for excellence by using their full potential in that area. Keep learning and upskilling to remain competitive in your industry and field. However, take time for yourself as well.
