Dr. T. Anil Kumar received his B.Tech (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) from Kakatiya University in 2001 and received his M-Tech degree in Electrical Power Engineering from JNTUH in 2008. He obtained Ph.D degree in Power System Restructuring and Deregulation from JNTUH in 2015. He served in different administrative positions in several engineering colleges and currently working as a professor and HOD of EEE department at Anurag University. He published more than 60 papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences. He has written a textbook on “Optimal Controllers for Deregulated Power Systems” published in Lambert International Academic Publishers. He is an adviser for NBA, NAAC accreditations and the establishment of R&D labs in many engineering colleges. He is a member of IEEE and ISTE professional societies. His research interests include power system restructuring and deregulation, smart grids, Grid analytics with AI, Big data tools for power system applications, microgrids, Cyber security of smart grids, Electric Vehicle integration to smart grids, design of robust controllers for power system transient and dynamic instabilities.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We are offering Honors and Minors in Electric Vehicles in the department of EEE. Nowadays, electrification of the transport sector requires more professionals in the field of EV operations, technology and R&D. There will be bright opportunities for students in different segments of EVs in the development of Drive trains, Charge controllers, BMS, charging stations and smart EV solutions.


What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

The EEE is an ever-green programme, students can opt for careers in the core, hardware, IT services and AI & ML. Nowadays, the modernization of grids, renewable energy integration and electric vehicles with 4G technologies play important roles in the development of sustainable solutions. These 4G technologies with the knowledge of core EEE would bring more employment opportunities for students.


What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

Under the B.Tech programme implementing innovative teaching-learning practices such as PBL, model making and using different tools and techniques to assess student's performance in all the courses.


What are some valuable insights into the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.?

In the B.Tech curriculum, we have introduced advanced courses like smart grids, Electric Vehicles, AI & ML. The UG curriculum is designed in such a way as to meet the requirements of the core, IT and hardware industry.


How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Students should be focusing on the fundamentals of EEE, programming skills and communication skills. They should know the role of advanced technologies in upholding employment opportunities in the digital era to grab global opportunities.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

The faculty of EEE have been trained in advanced courses to deliver the program and faculty have been doing certifications on new technologies.


How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program?

Involving industry people in curriculum design, Signed MoUs with industry and inviting industry personnel for guest talks, workshops and training programs for students and faculty. Students' internships and placements with MoU-signed industries help in building industry connections. 


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

Train the faculty to meet the requirements of the new curriculum is a bit challenging, however we overcome these problems by providing required training to faculty in new courses.


What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Students have been working on different projects on smart solutions for Electrical engineering using IoT, Electric Vehicles and renewable energy using power electronics applications and Electrical Drives.


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this Programme?

Students have wide career options in the power sector, industrial automation, Power electronic applications to EVs and RES, Embedded systems, VLSI, IT Services, Data Science, AI & ML. It has Smart solutions for consumer applications.
