Dr. A Jagan Mohan Reddy is working as Principal of the Engineering Staff College of India, Hyderabad. Previously, he was a Professor (HR) and Area Chair (HR) at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Hyderabad. He is a Gold Medalist in Economics with an M.Phil. Degree from JNU, New Delhi. He was a faculty member at IMT-Ghaziabad before moving to Hyderabad. He has more than two Decades of Industry experience and for the last 20 years, he has been in the teaching-cum-research line. Though he teaches HRM, his passion is to synchronize ancient wisdom with modern management. He is a motivational speaker and loves mentoring and counseling, having switched over to Teaching from Industry out of passion. In addition to Teaching, Research, and publications (more than 200 articles) he has presented several papers at the National and International Seminars], apart from handling Training sessions in the areas of HRM, ethics and Values. Produced four PhDs so far, and a few more are in the pipeline.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We have three programs as on today:

PGDM-infrastructure management for which only engineers are eligible;

PGDM- General Management-any graduate with 50% marks +passed aptitude test and 

PGDM- industrial safety and environment management- Engineers & BSc graduates. In all the programs curriculum is designed and revised on a regular basis keeping in view the industry requirements.

What is so special about your programs that you are offering in your institute which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

ESCI is the oldest institution and an organ of the Institution of Engineers. We have experienced faculty with industry experience.Further, our faculty are able to carry their experience gained in training programs to the classroom which enriches the students further.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

Our mantra is to involve, inform, and inspire with a passionate faculty doing their best so that students perform. We make the students read the management concepts, reflect upon them, and then learn how to apply them to their realities. We also expose them to various National & International events taking place at ESCI.

What will you say the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

We focus on refining the students from all angles: communication, behavior, attitude, contemporary knowledge of changes that are taking place across the globe etc.

What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute? How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Our syllabus is contemporary-oriented, with revision taking place from time to time. We have Industry experts on our Curriculum advisory committee and their inputs are taken into account while affecting changes. Further, our faculty carry the training knowledge to the classroom and students get an opportunity to interact with the bigwigs at the seminars, etc., being held at ESCI.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

Institute sponsors the faculty for faculty development programs and our visiting faculties are experts in their respective fields.

How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program? 

We have a strong industry connection, as we have MOUs signed with many of them. And as such, our students have no problem in getting internships or placements.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

In today's competitive world, with future chaos starring at us in the form of BANI, our constant endeavor is to instill the mantra or practice of observing, adapting, and improving, be it among the Students or the faculty.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

They handle the live projects assigned by the companies during the internships. And this allows them to test the theory they learned in the classroom.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

From the sports industry to social media and marketing, studying for an MBA would help the student fast-track to leadership in a range of industries. After completing the course, they can find career opportunities in the areas of project management, HRM, Marketing, consulting, Sports/Investment management, etc.
