Sudarshan K has been working as the Head of Information Science & Engineering Department at Srinivas Institute of Technology Valachil, Mangalore, Karnataka for the last 12+ years.
He has done M.Tech in Computer Science from N M A M Institute of Technology, NITTE and is currently pursuing the PhD in Computer Science from Srinivas University as part of his education. He holds a rich professional experience of 17+ years and before joining Srinivas Institute, he has worked as an Assistant Lecturer with National Institute of Technology Karnataka for 5 years.
He has obtained many Licenses and Certifications including Create and Manage Cloud Resources - Google Cloud Skills Boost, AWS Academy Graduate -AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, Celonis Academic Educator Training Program - EduSkills Foundation, Celonis Academic Educator Training Program - EduSkills Foundation, Educator Training Certificate from AWS Academy Cloud Foundations - EduSkills Foundation, Foundation Educator Training: BLUE PRISM ACADEMIA PROGRAM - EduSkills Foundation, Associate Developer Educator Training - EduSkills Foundation and Alteryx Educator Training Certificate - EduSkills Foundation. He also has good understanding and Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, C#, C, C++ followed by MySQL Database, DBMS, Java, OpenGL and HTML etc.

For the purpose of helping students excel not only in academics but in every field, our college offers a broad range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in the discipline of Architecture, Computer Applications, Engineering, Management and Science. Along with providing employment oriented education, Entrepreneurship related training programs,career development workshops, mentorship sessions and skill building programs are arranged by us from time to time and students also get the opportunity to pursue global level certifications and work on research projects through internships.

Along with this, we have a wonderful team of highly experienced faculty members, who all have expertise in their respective domains. Hands-on training programs to strengthen students' theoretical knowledge and help them apply their classroom learning to real world use cases, are also conducted from time to time. Last but not the least, global certifications are scheduled by us in a more flexible and convenient manner so that students can concentrate both on academics and other programs.
What best practices your institution has implemented in each course students are currently pursuing from your college?
As part of best practices, we regularly organize interaction sessions to discuss things and collect feedback from everyone to improve our teaching methodologies. Along with this, quizzes and internal exams are conducted by us from time to time and students are involved in projects too keeping in mind learning objectives, technology integration and continuous improvement.
What are some valuable insights of the programs that are being offered by your Department?
The Information Science & Engineering program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving field of information technology. And we have adopted a flexible and well-rounded curriculum which is actually an amalgamation of core courses related to specializations like Computer Science, Data Analytics, and Information Systems followed by emerging areas like Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence.
How do the courses of your college ensure the future readiness of students?
We are providing such a quality education that after successfully finishing our courses, students will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Information Systems, Data Analysis and Software Development, and they will be able to position themselves in a technology-driven world.
How did you train your faculty members to efficiently deliver the course content to students?
Our institution regularly encourages the faculties to attend and conduct Faculty Development Programs related to effective teaching pedagogies and use of latest technologies in education. Along with this, they pursue various kinds of certification courses through online learning platforms like NPTEL, Coursera, Udemy from time to time to stay updated with emerging technologies.

How do you build a strong connection between your institute programs and industry demands?
With the intention of bridging the gaps between our courses and what industries are demanding nowadays, we have maintained strong relations with leading Tech companies so that events and activities like guest lectures, workshops, placement related training programs and internships can be conducted in collaboration with them and students can be skilled on on time to work in the ever evolving and challenging corporate world.
What kind of challenges do you usually face while inculcating new courses in your College's curriculum?
Integration of new courses into the existing curriculum without much disruptions is a very challenging task in itself, because a dedicated time from the already allotted one is required to deliver lectures and then faculty members skill upgradation is also required in case they are unfamiliar with things.
Apart from this, attracting and admitting students to pursue new programs is also a difficult task as they come with lots of doubts regarding kind of competition and career growth and available jobs and convincing them at first is not easy at all.
Last but not the least, upgrading faculties skills in accordance with latest industrial trends and technologies of Information Science and offering them professional development opportunities acts as a roadblock for us when we don't get right resources on time.

Our students work on a wide range of projects that encompasses various aspects of Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, and Engineering and also reflect the diverse nature of the ISE field. And if I have to explicitly define the categories, then it would be as per below.
