Shailesh Shetty S is the Head of the Department (CS& BS) at Srinivas Institute of Technology (SIT). He holds a B.E and M.Tech in Computer Science at UG & PG levels respectively. Currently, he is also a Ph.D. scholar in blockchain. Apart from these, he holds PUC & SSLC degrees as well. As per his working experience, he has worked in Core Logic For 3 Months in the Software Department on Mainframes as a Graduate Trainee. He had been on a mini project on the “Solar System Transformation Model” based on computer graphics and visualization as per V.T.U standard. He has published 11 of hIS writings and has a hold over 4 patents. He holds a Startup Karnataka Elevate 2021 Runners title for the Pitching of Title:” Vaagdhare”. He has been awarded as the Best Teacher from the Global TV in Association with Ultimate Mentors, New Delhi in the Q&A Category and also got selected in the Top 20 in the category of Best Innovative Teaching Methods. He is also the Editor of the Book “Futuristic Trends in Artificial Intelligence “IIP Proceedings, Volume 2, Book 17, Part 6.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?
In the last academic year, we have inculcated Computer Science and Business Systems as the new branch in our institute. Since then, we had third-semester students entering the branch in the month of October. We have many innovations planned, and some have already been executed for the betterment of students.
What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?
The most interesting fact about Computer Science and Business Systems is that, as you know, some students have a keen interest in pursuing an engineering career, while others aspire to do their Masters in Business. Computer Science and Business Systems combine subjects from both engineering and management. This allows students to learn technology while gaining leadership skills. These skills will be valuable when they enter the industry, as they will possess both technical expertise and leadership abilities, paving the way for a successful professional career.
What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?
In Computer Science and Business Systems, we already have a curriculum defined by VTU. Apart from this, we are planning to conduct various skill development training in both technical and management fields, which will help students excel in their careers. We believe in the active engagement of our students in class discussions, labs, and group projects. Engaging with the material and your peers can enhance students’ understanding and collaboration skills. We plan out the study schedule efficiently to balance coursework from both computer science and business aspects as effective time management is crucial for success. In the rapidly evolving tech industry, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies is essential we are a follower of industry news and keep on engaging in extracurricular tech activities. We are offering Hands-on experience to apply theoretical knowledge through practical projects and coding exercises.

We are offering valuable insights on interdisciplinary skills and problem-solving orientation. This program equips students with a unique blend of technical skills from computer science, such as coding and software development, and business acumen, including strategic planning and management. Graduates are well-prepared to bridge the gap between technology and business needs. Further, Students learn to analyze complex problems from both technological and business perspectives. What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?
Incorporating the computer science and business system program into our curriculum presented several challenges that we addressed proactively. Firstly, designing a cohesive curriculum that effectively integrates both technical and business aspects requires extensive planning and collaboration between faculty from diverse backgrounds. Ensuring that students receive a balanced education in both domains was a complex task.
