Dr. Himani Avasthi, Director of Academics and HOD Business Administration is a doctorate professional with a proven track record As an Academician, researcher, consultant, trainer, and administrator, who can channel the potential of people to achieve organizational objectives. She has 22 years of experience in imparting business management education to post-graduates, undergraduates, and executives in India & Dubai. Before joining the World College of Technology & Management ( WCTM) Gurgaon, she was associated with JK Business School Gurgaon, Annapurna International School of Films & Media (AISFM), Hyderabad, Centre for Executive Education (CEE), Dubai, Institute of Business Management & Research, Gurgaon, IILM Gurgaon & Jaipur and IIMS, Jaipur. She has a positive attitude towards continuous learning and has published & presented papers at various National and International conferences including the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, Manipal Insitute of Technology, Mody College, and others. She has also conducted MDPs and panel discussions. Besides teaching, she has also handled academic and administrative tasks like Head of Department, Academic Convener, Training & Placements coordinator, Admissions coordinator, and Students’ advisor. Her areas of expertise are Quantitative Techniques, Operations Research, Business Research, Business Statistics, and HRM- Contemporary & Specializations like Performance Management, Cross-culture Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Dr. Avasthi has done her Ph.D. on ‘Work-Life Balance” in Rajasthan. She is an MBA- HR from Lucknow University and a mathematics graduate from Allahabad University.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
As a head of an institution, staying connected to higher education involves engaging with current educational trends, attending conferences, fostering partnerships with other institutions, collaborating with industry leaders, and maintaining an open dialogue with faculty, staff, and students. Continuous learning and adaptability are the keys to staying relevant in the dynamic landscape of higher education.
What is your leadership philosophy?
My leadership philosophy emphasizes empowerment through delegation, ensuring individuals have the authority to match their responsibilities. It embraces democratic principles, involving team members in decision-making processes. Leading by example is central, highlighting the importance of actions over words. The approach values effective communication, with an emphasis on listening and understanding. In essence, it embodies a leadership style rooted in trust, collaboration, and setting a positive precedent through personal conduct.
What do you see as WCTM’s greatest strengths in terms of Academics?
WCTM offers a diverse range of courses, technical, computer application, and management subjects, providing students with a holistic education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our courses align their curriculum with industry needs, ensuring that students graduate with skills and knowledge that are directly applicable to the professional world. A wide range of technical and soft skills training is provided to students from time to time. WCTM invests in cutting-edge laboratories, libraries, and technology, creating an environment conducive to research, innovation, and effective learning. We have an Apple Centre of Excellence, robotics lab, 3-D innovation lab, IPR cell, and simulation lab in College. All I-7 (13) computers in labs. Establishing connections with industries, engineering, and management colleges facilitates internships and placements, giving students practical exposure and increasing their employability. We have more than 1500 MoUs signed with industry, conduct at least two on-campus mega job fairs every year, We ensure 100% placement of students by giving them ample opportunities when in college and even after college.

How is your relationship with the students of your college?
As Director and Head of Department (HoD), I maintain a supportive and mentorship-oriented relationship with students. This involves fostering open communication, providing guidance, and creating an inclusive environment to help students thrive academically and personally.
What are the most important functions in the role that you play in your institute?
The Director of Academics plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the educational aspects of an institution. Key functions include Faculty Management: Recruiting, training, and evaluating faculty to maintain high teaching standards. Student Success: Implementing strategies to support student learning, engagement, and overall success. Quality Assurance: Ensuring adherence to academic standards, assessment processes, and accreditation requirements. Educational Innovation: Promoting and integrating new teaching methodologies, continuously upgrading teaching pedagogy, and using technologies, and educational trends. Resource Allocation: Efficiently managing academic resources, including budgets, facilities, and technology. Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development of long-term academic goals and objectives for the institution. Collaboration: Fostering collaboration between departments, faculty, and external educational partners. Student Feedback: Collecting and utilizing student feedback to improve teaching methods and program offerings. Policy Development: Developing and enforcing academic policies to ensure fairness, consistency, and compliance. To be a successful Director of Academics & HoD, we should balance administrative responsibilities with a commitment to educational excellence and student development.
