What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“My passion to interact with the young minds keeps me connected to the education sector”

I have been in the Education sector for more than 20 years. During my service, I have taught from senior school level to Engineering Graduates. After my Post Graduate Management success, I switched teaching to MBA graduates. My passion for teaching and the ability to recognize, respect & nurture each student's creative potential keeps me connected with students. I feel the most challenging aspect compared to other business and community sectors is that in the Education Sector, progress is not quantifiable directly in terms of economic success and has to be evaluated qualitatively. The Senior Management's vision in identifying the core values, assembling a mixture of a young and experienced set of teams supported by the aggressive Placement policies will help attract the talented teaching faculty. Coupled with an opportunity for professional development in terms of promotions and growth, makes this sector more attractive.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“I believe in delivering optimal results”

My deep interest in research activities, assisting students in their industry and academic research projects, which mainly contribute to society's progress, keeps me going in the Education sector. When an Alumni recollects your positive role in shaping his life, it measures your success too. Many of my erstwhile students who are doing very well professionally are in regular touch and add value to the Alumni Association through their contributions. Though it is not quantifiable, it can create a lot of goodwill for the Faculty, Department, and ultimately to the Organisation.

As an instructor, I strive hard to help students obtain good grades, instill a passion for success, and assist colleagues in their intellectual growth. The students are groomed by creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“We have think tanks to strategize and market every step”

The academic program is planned full of academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. Students are continuously engaged and motivated to participate in Seminars/ Workshops and various Industry Institute Interaction activities. I believe in a robust industry-institute interaction for the development of students. Alumni are the pillar of any organization. I strive to strengthen the relationship with Alumni and Industry and value their contribution in mentoring and coaching students to make them industry-ready.

“We ensure to provide best practical learning to our students”

Coupled with our robust Alumni and industry connect enables us to design/redesign at each stage of this program to guide and mentor our students.

Effective student learning happens by monitoring students’ progress through a variety of assessment (Metric) tools for quantitative evaluation, including tests, projects, assignments, and other instruments that help in honing the students’ skills. Our highly experienced faculty regularly monitor and advise students on the course and academic matters and career decisions.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the College and the students are?

“Our organization is student centric and focuses on their development”

The major role of an Organisation includes

  • Coordinating and developing institute vision and goal statement.
  • Strategic planning of academic activities and curriculum development
  • Supervising, evaluating academic programs, Faculty and student professional development.
  • Preparing a student to graduate from classroom environment to a Professional part of his life

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Our priorities are to enhance the level of development for faculty and students”

It is essential to keep students updated with current trends and situations in their respective specializations in the industry. Also, enhanced Industry Institute Interaction and Signing of MOU’s for supporting students in internships, placements, training programs is necessary. What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for RMDSSOMS specifically?

“Education requires upliftment”

  • Increasing need for long learning in life.
  • Absorption of emerging technologies in businesses into the Academics
  • Emphasising on achieving a Skill set than a degree.
  • Increase students’ interest in research and innovation
  • Developing rural students into enhancing their employability through better communication and interpersonal skills. We get students from all over India, and many students are from rural areas. Apart from regular academics, enhancing students' employability skills and making them industry ready is a big challenge.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute?

“I aim to make every staff member and students aware of the vision of the institute”

I emphasize on decentralization of work by which the staff holds the responsibility of the work allotted. I cherish a supportive work culture and promote work life balance. The Open door policy, Mentoring, and coaching to every individual brings out healthy relationships and learning organization culture.
