Dr. A. Ganesan is the HOD of the Computer Science Department of Suguna College of Arts and Science. He holds a PhD in computer science from Bharathiar University and an M.Phil. in computer science from Periyar University. He had worked as an associate professor at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science and as a lecturer at SKSS Arts and Science College. His research focuses on machine learning, data science, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, he has organized and attended various workshops, seminars, and conferences.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

As an educator, I do not just teach students, I also have to keep upskilling and learning the current trends.

How does the curriculum of Suguna College/University ensure the best practices of the industry?

Our curriculum is a blend of academic theory and industry practices. We use business simulations, real-time case studies, and live projects, to make sure our students are well-equipped to become industry managers

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Bharathiar University specifically?

Switching to the digital world from campus life, which is the transition from the classroom to digital, has been challenging.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

The students must learn fast to adapt to the changes imposed on us by COVID-19 or any future shock events.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute/ university?

An educator can create this type of environment by presenting clear classroom expectations, providing opportunities to improve social skills, building relationships with their students, and offering relevant content. In this type of classroom setting, students feel as though educators value their input.

What would you like people to know about your university that they may not know?

Suguna College offers a comprehensive scholarship program. I got more career tips for internships and entry-level jobs. Students can study a wider range of subjects before specializing (or picking a major) later.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the college and the students are?

The role of faculties includes responsibility for teaching, research, and often administrative tasks and they should generate new knowledge, educate and guide students, and contribute to the academic community.
