Dr. Jyoti Aarya is the Head of the Science department at the Vedic PG College. She has around 17 years of academic experience. She has published six research publications in national and international journals. She is also a Fellow member of society for Science and Environment.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with education?

Teaching and research are my passions. Since Ph.D., I have been associated with the education sector. As an educator, I believe it’s not only about teaching students but also helping them in keeping up their skills for current and vital issues.

What are the factors that make subjects of Science the best for students to opt for? What will you say are the “best practices” in the course?

Choosing a good carrier after the 12th is a stressful process for students. The scientific stream provides a vibrant environment carrier. Some best options include engineering, medicine, biotechnology, microbiology, forensic science, biochemistry, molecular biology, and many more fields which you can opt for after completion of your graduation. In our college, all the departments of the science stream organize various types of events such as invited talks, research paper presentations, seminar presentations, making reports on various ecological sites, and evaluation of blood samples, etc. To ensure the academic excellence of both teachers and students relevant textbooks, reference books, standard journals, and e-journals are being procured by the library.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students, how do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

We should help the students to achieve their goals, solve their problems and create a healthy environment and build strong student-teacher relationships. It can help them develop both academic and social points of view. As a teacher in my view, one should approach class every day with a positive attitude which helps to initiate student’s attitudes in a positive direction.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

When I joined Vedic PG College, my vision was to provide affordable quality & skills to students who choose the stream and provide information & knowledge which can definitely help them to shape a bright future. I personally try to maintain & improve student evaluation by engaging them in classroom discussions & in lab practices.

How do the curriculum/ extracurricular activities of your department/college ensure the best practice in the industry?

Basically, extra-curricular activities are positively correlated with attendance, test scores, and educational ambition. It can help to gain a competitive advantage & it may increase students' serve of engagement or attachment to college.

How do you help your student cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

Several activities that we are conducting in college like regular education trips, quiz competitions & science exhibition gives them exposure and also provides strength to fight further in their future competitions through which directly they become self-sufficient & also get entry into large institutes.

What kind of developments are happening in the world of sciences in world and India?

In the last few years, modern India has had a strong focus on science and technology like Artificial Intelligence(AI), Data Science, Forensic Science, Biotechniques, and many more and it will definitely increase employment opportunities and save millions of life.

Any suggestions you would like to provide to current youth and aspiring students?

Finally I would like to suggest that science is one of the most important channels of knowledge, it has a specific role in creating new knowledge for improving education and increasing the quality of life in general on behalf of my college I want to ensure you that if you join this institute, you will definitely get a healthy environment, skill development and right directions from our faculties which will open new doors to finding a good job and a successful carrier.
