Mr. Rishav Awasthi, Managing Director - Awasthi Group of Institutions, graduated in Commerce and then moved to Melbourne (Australia) in late 2014 for a Master’s degree from Monash University, one of top three public universities of Australia. With an aim to serve his country and its citizens, he came back to India after graduation and started his illustrious work career here.

What factors keep you connected with the education sector?
The education industry is extremely extensive, dynamic and challenging in nature. There is little doubt in the fact that education plays an important role in our lives. Being a part of the education sector, I can contribute directly to society and the nation's growth by producing the best professionals and upstanding citizens.
The people who are involved in this sector, the educators and students, have various roles to play from the ones that is defined for them, so my idea here is to produce unlimited learning opportunities where the students are challenged. All of these factors together make me stay connected with the education sector.
Being the Director of the Institute, what is your philosophy of leadership?
Leadership is all about effectively collaborating with people of different mindsets and experiences while inspiring them to do their best work. If I talk about my approach, I am a very straightforward person who tries to be direct and collaborate with my team members by delegating tasks. I try to lead by example and make sure they know I am always there to support and guide them.
How studying in your college would be beneficial for students?
Our college focuses on providing the best quality education with an emphasis on practical skills and our courses are tailored to meet the students’ needs. Our main objective is to inculcate technical, creative and social skills in students using various educational strategies. Moreover, our college regularly organizes various extracurricular activities and events like sports competitions, music events, and dance competitions along with studies. Last, but not least, we have incorporated the latest technologies in our curriculum in accordance with changing trends to offer a more skill-oriented education that aligns with the current industry demands.

How does the curriculum of your Institution is aligned with industry and societal needs?
Our curriculum is designed and updated keeping in mind the local, national, regional and global developmental needs. Our efforts truly reflect the desired program outcomes, and course outcomes of the courses which we are offering to students. Towards this end, the college has adopted systematic procedures for the development, implementation and revision of curriculum for existing courses. Our primary objective, currently, is to prepare students to excel in higher studies and professionally.
What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?
I believe that our entrepreneurial, collaborative and growth mindset along with our management and leadership, open-mindedness, planning, socializing and enthusiastic behaviours of both students and faculties, strong work ethics of faculty and staff members and community services programs make us strong. Apart from this, the high enrollment of reserved category students in our college with a majority of female students make us a formidable institute.
In your opinion, how project based learning could be beneficial for students?
We regularly assign a wide variety of mini-major projects to students that gives them amazing opportunities to have a focused interaction with the faculty members and researchers and to acquire the best learning and research skills. Our project-based learning is also useful in helping students improve their communication, writing, leadership, and initiative, learn problem-solving, presentation, public speaking, delegation, decision-making and team-building skills. They learn these skills through the strict deadlines our projects have which also teaches them to effectively utilize their time without compromising on quality.
Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and ambitious students?
I urge my students to keep upgrading their skills and keep learning to prepare them for the corporate world and its cut-throat competitive world, at the earliest possible. I advise them to try to look for a job that aligns with one’s interests and passion but is also in demand in the industry. It is also crucial to be aware that there are many more tremendous opportunities available.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
We have numerous industry-bridging programs that are organized for the students like mock interview sessions with industry experts. Other activities like case study analysis competitions, industrial visits, role play competitions, market the product event, GD competitions, business plan competitions etc are regularly organized to help students to cultivate a professional attitude and aid our students with job search.
