Mahadeva Lal Schroff College Of Pharmacy, Director: Dr. Braj Kishore Singh Interview

Dr. Braj Kishore Singh is the Director of Mahadeva Lal Schroff College Of Pharmacy, Aurangabad, Bihar. He completed his MD from Patna Medical College in 1987-1989. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery - MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in 1978-1984. He started his academic career as a professor started in 2004 and since then he has been associated with several prestigious academic institutions in the region. Under his guidance and leadership, more than 5000 students have completed their graduation in pharmacy and 50+ students have completed their post-graduation in pharmacy.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

In my opinion, it is the noblest of all the professions and I am lucky to be associated with this sector for the entirety of my professional career. In this industry, one of the most important jobs is to impart knowledge as well as to assist in making strategies that improve the quality of education. This is what provides me with the inspiration to stay connected to the education industry. Our task is to groom the future leaders of our country in a wide range of fields, which is very important for the growth of our nation. All these factors provide me a boost in staying connected to this sector. My other reason to become a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of as many students as I can. I draw satisfaction from my job when I see my students getting employed.

How do you plan the marketing and administration of your school?

If our students become key figures in universities or industries, our brand will increase and we will rise to the top. As a result, we strive to offer our students the best academic quality, both in terms of theory and practice. To become skilled professionals, we must concentrate on developing the whole person.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

One of the key plans in our curriculum is the industry institute tie-up. Students visit companies making packaging materials, raw materials, and finished products, as well as pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical companies, like Amul. Our institute has a dedicated cell that deals with the Industry-Institute tie-ups, whether they are clinically or industrially oriented. At the end of their stay at our college, students receive hands-on experience and are prepared to meet the latest industry standards.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?

As a pillar of our healthcare system, the pharmacy profession will explode within 10 -15 years. The budding pharmacists will play a very important role in the development of the nation. We plan on making our students skilled in this sector so that they can pursue various opportunities after graduating. Over the next 10 years, our institute plans to increase the intake of these students so that more skilled pharmacy professionals and healthcare individuals are created.

How can you make your university more welcoming to students of different backgrounds?

Diversity is a valuable component of our admission process because it allows students to learn about and appreciate different cultures. We offer an institutional scholarship for these students, apart from the Government-approved schemes for EWS. For students from lower-income backgrounds, we offer special programs. Regardless of caste, we welcome students of all ethnicities. Government reservation norms are strictly adhered to when structuring the intake.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

As a pharmacist professional, I want to tell the students that there is nothing that can stop a person from becoming successful in life if they opt for a professional course. A pharmacist can become an entrepreneur who can give jobs to other unskilled individuals. A graduate student in any professional course will not lag behind in any field.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?
