You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
Being the Managing Director at R S Teacher’s Training College, Dhanbad, we are continuously working for the complete and overall growth of the students. As a Director, we regularly attend the seminars and workshops that are arranged by different government bodies. In addition to this, there are always some updates, both at the state level and at the university level, that we try to include in our teaching pedagogy. We also have a team that is always working on the updates that are in the education industry.
Being the Managing Director of R S Teacher’s Training College, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
As a director, I feel that leadership is the art of leading a team from the front. Taking all the obstacles on your shoulders and sharing feedback and appreciation with the team. As a leader, if you are able to show the team the way, the whole team can move in the right direction. Simultaneously, I need to check whether we are getting the desired output. As a leader, you must not be bossy in your nature but be open to criticism and conversations. As far as my leadership is concerned, I believe in adopting a consultative approach. We have a team of people who are involved in each and every step of the decision-making.
Being the managing Director of R S Teachers Training College, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?
I follow a consultative approach to making any strategy for our college, whether it be marketing plans or academic plans. I believe that having dedicated faculties and supportive staff plays a vital role in the success of any college or institution. As a team, we always first discuss what strategy will be helpful for the growth of the college, keeping the financial aspect out of it. We were earlier working on conventional ways of marketing like newspaper ads, hoardings, and leaflets. Now we have expanded to working on Facebook sponsored ads. As the world changes, we are also changing the approach to our marketing campaigns.
How does the curriculum of R S Teacher’s Training College ensure the best practice of the industry?
At R S Teacher’s Training College, we have adopted the syllabus of Binod Bihari Mahto Koyanchal University. Additionally, we work under the guidelines issued by NCTE, Delhi. We always work on training our teachers and making them aware of the changing trends in education. We work with them to go through the depth of subjective knowledge and we also make them go through the practical experience as well. As a teacher, it is imperative to have practical experience so that you can utilise your subject knowledge in the practical world. Moreover, we provide our students with different projects and internship options at the best of the schools so that they can be exposed to working in the industry.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?
Currently, we offer only the B.Ed. degree and have a student capacity of 100. Over the next ten years, we are planning to introduce more degrees and courses in education training. We are planning to launch a Diploma in Elementary Education and a Masters in Education degree. However, before that, we need to improve our facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the incoming students. We also want to update ourselves to meet the NCTE and affiliated university guidelines.
What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?
R S Teacher’s Training College has a B.Ed. course with 100 students' intake capacity. We are also about to introduce other short-term courses like D.El.Ed. and M.Ed. We have a team of excellent faculty members who are guiding the students and support staff who are also continuously working for the improvement of the college. We have a fully stocked library, an ICT resource centre, a physical and health education resource centre, a science laboratory, a healthy environment and all other required available resources to assist our students' study. The best practises propagated by our teachers percolate down to the students and help us build a strong nation.
What do you see as R S Teachers Training College greatest strengths?
The biggest major strength of our institute is obviously our faculties, the facilities, the staff members and finally, our students. Our students go out to the outer world and prove their mettle in the outer world, which is a matter of pride to us. In addition to this, we have with us the guidance of our respected secretary, who sets the vision and mission of our college. He is our only source of inspiration and we are continuously willing to act upon it. These are the major strengths of our college.
Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
There is a huge scarcity of qualified and experienced teachers nowadays. We need more teachers to fill positions at institutes. Teaching is a noble profession and there are a lot of things that should be studied during the two years you will be enrolled in your degree. Take this time to learn and train yourself with skills that can be used when you go into the professional world. Try to maintain a balance between both theoretical and practical knowledge so that proper understanding can be achieved and implemented.
