Chemistry is the scientific discipline involved with compounds composed of atoms, i.e. elements, and molecules, i.e. combinations of atoms: their composition, structure, properties, behavior and the changes they undergo during a reaction with other compounds. GATE Chemistry syllabus will have general aptitude and core chemistry topics. There is no change in chemistry Syllabus.

  • The paper code for Chemistry paper is CY. Candidates will be given 3 hours to complete the exam.
  • There will 65 questions asked in the exam. The total for 65 questions is 100 marks.
  • There is negative marking for every incorrect response. The 85% of exam consists of core chemistry questions and 15% of exam consists of general aptitude questions.
