Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
This college offered me the most relevant course aligning with my academic background. This course gave me practical knowledge of instruments like HPLC, AAS, AES, UV-VIS spectrometer, and Gas chromatography.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
As I had a master's degree in chemistry and the course offered by Sheridan College was for students who had just finished high school, I was overqualified to enrol in a diploma program.

Tips to enhance your application
They don't have many extraordinary requirements to get admission apart from IELTS. They just ask for your transcripts and degree certificate from your university and your resume and experience later if you have any.
Admission Experience
- I enrolled at the Lambton College Toronto campus as Toronto and its surrounding suburbs have great job opportunities.
- The faculty at Lambton College were highly qualified and experienced.
- Lambton College Toronto campus is not as big as the campus of Sarnia it's just a small building. However, it has good public transport connectivity.
- Career opportunities after this course are usually good, but there was not much help from college.
- My overall experience was average at Lambton College.
Class Schedule
- There is one lecture per day of 4 hours for 6 days a week. The schedule of the lectures is usually flexible. Students can choose the schedule at the beginning of the semester. They have classes in the morning and evenings as well.
- The average strength of the class is 30 students per class. Most of the students in my class were Indians.
- Apart from regular classes, you have to spend at least an hour or two a day on activities like assignments and self-studies.
Faculty
Faculties are well experienced, as I mentioned earlier, and they are well approachable. They help to the best of their abilities. Professor Victor was one of my favourites because of his wide knowledge and experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. In terms of getting a job, faculties were supportive.
Campus Life
- They have a total of 3 campuses. main is in Sarnia, which is the best.
- If you want to study at Lambton College, you should go to Sarnia Campus. As I was at the Toronto campus. I can't comment on the other campuses.
- As far as the Toronto campus is concerned, it's not that big. They have a small Gym, but nobody uses it. Apart from a good convocation ceremony, they did not offer any extracurricular activities.
- I would again say that overall experience in terms of the Toronto campus was average.
Part Time Jobs
- Most Indian students work at cafes and security part-time as they offer flexible hours and sometimes competitive wages as well. For a security job, one has to get a license at a cost of around CA$ 350. You can find these kind of jobs rather easily.
- There are very few on-campus opportunities for jobs at the Toronto campus.
- Students can find off-campus jobs at cafes, as security and customer relations associates in retail stores, gas stations and many more.
- Students get minimum wage for these kinds of jobs and can work up to 24 hours a week legally.
- There are ample opportunities for off-campus jobs apart from the above-mentioned jobs.
Placement
- Finding a full-time job after completing the course is a task that may take up to a year, depending on the individual.
- Despite having a master's degree in chemistry, it took me a year to find a full-time job on the other hand few of my classmates got full-time jobs within 6 months as well so one has to look hard and follow the correct methods (like catering your resume according to job requirements).
- Students usually find jobs from platforms like Indeed and Linkedin.
- Students can earn from average of $20-30/ hour for full-time jobs for an entry-level position depending on the employer and one's skills.
Accommodation
- Search methods - Marketplace, Kijiji, or friends.
- Challenges - Be careful before moving into any place, as the environment of the house and the company you keep matters the most, especially when you are away from home.
- Recommendation - Find a Srilankan or Chinese house owner as they give you good amenities in the house like wifi and other utilities and cheaper rent than an Indian house owner. (experience may differ for individuals.)
