What Students Say
Likes
- One good this I noticed was the experienced faculty as they were bringing professional knowledge with them and made us aware of the workplace environment and challenges associated with the BA role, however, they were restraint to teach the PPTs that college has provided as part of curriculum.
- I would say only the second term sessions was worth attending as we got to learn Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio practically. In my opinion they should have continued those training modules in the third term as well but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Dislikes
- There are no social or professional clubs to build skills on this campus we raised these issues when the 1st term ended yet there was no progress from the College Authorities. Seems to be space issue.
- You will find this hilarious but within the first term and second term we were taught the definition of Data and Information so many times that we lost the count.
Required Exams for Admission
Course Curriculum
- In few subjects we scratched surface of several Data Management, Manipulation and Report Generation Techniques but not enough practically. First term was all PPTs and theories.
- The faculty they have hired are working for Lambton part time and they kept on their own professional journey on so they brought some fresh insights of workplace and canadian work culture. That was all industrial exposure. We were expecting more Professional conferences and corporate visits but the college did nothing.
- 4 Days a week (Lectures duration: Min 2 to max 4 hrs) one or two lectures depending on professors availability
- 40 Students all International(Majority from India, 3 from Napal and 2 from Ghana)
Admission Experience
- Back in India when I was working as a Data Analyst in a Textile firm for 2 years as a data analyst I was looking for opportunities within India and outside as well. I have done BSc Mathematics, so I preferred this course as it was well aligned with my study and experience.
- Just in a shorter note, I am currently enrolled in Business Analytics course as part my Post Graduation Degree at Lambton College, Ottawa.
I didn't get a satisfying experience with this course and College. - The college has collaborated with the Saint Paul University to share the campus facilities. In the 3rd term we were only scheduled for one day to be on campus for in class sessions and the rest of the course was conducted online giving an unpleasant experience to many of the students.
- Required: IELTS Overall 7 or above (My Score: IELTS 7.5)
Faculty
- We has a professor named Gaurav Balani, we really enjoyed his session in the second term. He taught us Microsoft Project and Visio. He works for Federal as PM.
Campus Life
- Lambton, Ottawa is operating on Saint Paul University's Campus sharing the facility.
- They have collaborated with the UOttawa for Sports and Gym Facility. So students have to visit UOttawa for a Gym access Card.
Part Time Jobs
- There are no on campus jobs. But for offcampus parttime jobs Ottawa is still doing well.
Placement
- I am still hunting and applying for full time opportunities the course is ending in August and before it finish I am expecting to achieve something
- We were suppose to do CoOp(Internship) within this last term but unfortunately a vast majority of students couldn't secure a CoOp opportunity including myself.
Accommodation
- The retal cost can be estimated to be 600 to 900 CAD a month for Private room. I stayed with my friend so we shared a room and that costed me 450 including utilities
Exams
- Do not remember perfectly any longer. Most probably Ielts Result 7 or above, 12th result or result of any last degree you have achieved for example Batchelors or Masters with minimum KTs. Yes this should be enough for SDS files.
- In Universities like UOTTAWA and CarletonU in Ottawa you would require SOP and LOR but for Colleges you won't.
Fees
- 17K CAD for one year. College has reduced it to approximately 14K CAD seeing less flow of international students
