Faqs

Ques. Can Indian students with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from 12th board apply for nursing at University of Calgary?

Ans. Yes, Indian 12th board results are accepted as equivalent to Canadian high school graduation. However, you must have completed Biology and Chemistry with minimum 60%. If you took PCB without Mathematics, you may need to complete a math prerequisite course before admission or during the first term.

Ques. What is the difference between the lottery admission process and previous admission at University of Calgary nursing?

Ans. Effective Fall 2026, the Faculty of Nursing moved from a cutoff-based system (previously 90%+) to a lottery system. Now, all applicants with 82% or above are entered into a lottery pool, increasing admission chances for qualified students. This change aims to diversify the student body and reduce extreme competitiveness.

Ques. Can I work full-time during my nursing studies at University of Calgary?

Ans. No, you can work maximum 24 hours per week during academic terms as an international student on a study permit. However, you can work full-time during scheduled breaks (summer, winter, spring). Many nursing students work as healthcare aides or patient care attendants, earning CAD 15-17 per hour, which helps offset living costs.
