The University of British Columbia (UBC) Rankings 2026: Global and Subject-wise

• Kelowna is a growing city where fresh UBC graduates are always desired by employers. The best way to get a job offer is to avail the Co-op programme during undergraduate studies since, after graduating, employers that students worked with during their Co-op offer them full-time job offers.
• Other ways in which students get full-time job offers are by joining the departments or offices where they worked student jobs after graduating. For example, many of my colleagues who worked student jobs in the Student Recruitment and Advising Office later joined this office with full-time positions after graduating.
• There are also always networking and career development events, as well as job fairs, happening on campus that students can attend to gain more exposure to the job market.

• UBC has a widespread on-campus accommodation system to help students have a smoother transition to living independently as well as being academically successful. On-campus housing is guaranteed for first-year students on both campuses. Second year onwards, students can still apply, but allotment will be on a lottery basis.
• On the Okanagan campus, there are 4 residence styles: single bedroom (with communal washroom), single bedroom (with a shared washroom with one other person), 4 bedroom suite (with 2 washrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a balcony), and a studio/one bedroom (single occupancy with a kitchen and a washroom).
• Unlike the Vancouver campus, a student will never have to share their bedroom with anybody on the Okanagan campus, thus promising privacy and enjoyment of personal space. The first two residence styles have a mandatory meal plan, due to the lack of a kitchen, which can be availed at the common Dining Hall. Students can apply for on-campus housing directly through UBC’s website, along with information about fees, other amenities, and policies.
• The best part about residence is that students have Residence Advisors, a student who will live next door and be there to assist with any kind of housing issue (physical health, emergencies, mental health, maintenance, facilities, roommate conflicts, recreation, etc.). In fact, students can apply to be Residence Advisors themselves (as I did) starting from their second year to be a part of a vibrant on-campus residence community that not only gets them involved in residence life, learn practical skills that will be very useful later on in job searches, and ultimately has fun.

I am not sure about this. but I think many students do get good jobs.

The factors that drove me to UBC were obviously good education, but apart from that it was the lively campus life that UBC provides and of course the beautiful campus.

I don’t think I have enough information for this or I’m unaware of this so I don’t think I have the best answer.

I chose this college as it had a Global ranking (one of the top 50 schools worldwide), Business program’s excellent reputation among other business programs in Canada, and the beautiful campus. My overall experience at UBC was insightful, eye-opening, and rewarding. The people I met and the knowledge I gained from learning at one of the best universities in Canada will be beneficial for my career down the line.

There is a demand for my profession, so students usually find a job in the same field while they are studying, such as me. Initially they work part time and once we graduate we can work full time. As a certified professional you can either be self employed or work for a center. Professors are extremely helpful in providing you with a list of people or centers that we can approach. As my course is unique, there is no specific placement process. The median salary depends on how many hours the student wishes to work. As a part time student I ask for $25 an hour and work for 14-16 hours a week only, as I also give priority to my education. Once students graduate the hourly rate increases to $30-45 per hour, depending on your skills and work experience. Once we receive our certificate the rate changes to $70-130 per hour.

For my program UBC is ranked in the top 10 in the world. Additionally for my course, it provides all the required courses that I need to study in order to be certified for my profession in Canada. According to the BCBA website (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst), UBC is one of the universities that is verified to provide the required courses in order to attempt the certificate exam. As an international student, my experience has been great. The students are friendly, the professors are amazing. The course is extremely student friendly and if we plan properly, it's not stressful throughout the semester, including the end term exams.

UBC has a great reputation for getting their students into decent to large companies: my brother, who works in computer science, has been making over C$120,000 a year since the age of 24/25. They have great career counseling to help you clarify what you want to become, too. 81% of graduate students from UBC get employed, and 72% of the students have partnerships with employers. About 50% of UBC’s engineering students who participate in CO-OP work for big-name companies like Tesla and Intel, and many are known to create innovative start-ups that tend to work out. I don’t know much about the placement process yet, as I’m a second-year student right now, but I will be doing CO-OP for HR which will help me get placed in a good company.

UBC is diverse and contains a student and staff population of open-minded, multi-cultured, and mature beings. I have grown up in schools that nurture such an environment, and so I value these characteristics in people and in education. Being smart isn’t just about numbers and grades, it’s about how you think, view others, your drive in life, your ability to solve problems and critically think about things outside of x + y, because real life is so much more than just that. My overall experience at UBC is that it is international, tolerant, diverse, aspirational, and challenging enough. It gives you a variety of clubs, friends, and courses to choose from to suit your best interests, has great career and mental health counseling, decent-paying jobs at the university, great academic/research/work facilities and social activities, and much more. It may big enormous, but it prepares you for the world which is much, much bigger.

It is relatively harder to secure full-time roles post under graduation since the job market in Canada is pretty bad right now, but it's definitely not impossible. Networking, making connections in the industry is quite an important aspect of this.

I would define my experience overall to be enriching. It is safe to say that in my journey at UBC, I have become more self-reliant and independent and most of all learned how to manage and allocate time to important tasks. All of this is still a work in progress, but definitely moving in the right direction.

The placement and research opportunities are sufficient because the university and program is well accredited.

The university provides a combination of well curated academic curriculum and lots of opportunities for extracurriculars as well. The infrastructure is at par with the high ranked universities.

I am looking for jobs, no doubt finding a job is the most challenging part. UBC has a career service office that helps you with the resources to prepare your application and interviews.

The course duration was really good, however, there is no on-campus placement. The faculty and academics are commendable and overall my experience with UBC has been memorable. It was a great opportunity to study with such a good faculty and get so much exposure. To conclude, I would say to study abroad the first research should be done about the country you want to move to, does it has job opportunities or not then you need to hunt the college or university. Getting into UBC was a great thing however the moment I would get a job in my legal field then I would be on cloud nine.

One of the major concerns at the university is the dishearteningly low placement rate, which poses significant difficulties for graduates in their pursuit of meaningful career prospects. Securing a good job after completing one's degree has proven to be a daunting task for many students. Addressing this issue is crucial to ensure that graduates are equipped with the necessary skills and support to thrive in their chosen fields and make a successful transition into the professional world.

My overall experience is okay. I am not very happy with the studies and curriculum as well as the campus life but i still got to learn a lot of things which I wouldn't have if I was to be still in India,
