Ans. PTU and GNDU both are well-reputed colleges that have unique strengths and weaknesses. While PTU is a bit flexible in terms of exam pattern, GNDU follows the rule of a year back. The choice of the college also depends on the course you will be studying. Usually, PTU fares better in most cases.  Ultimately, it all depends on the college or university campus you are taking admission. Most colleges in Punjab have a pathetic academic ambiance. So go for the main campus of any university else look for a decent college in your area. In all, GNDU offers better placement opportunities provided that you are on the main campus.Read more

Ques. How is PTU Jalandhar for a B.Tech?

Ans. One of my friends was admitted to PTU and does not recommend its B.tech course. The quality of education is below-average and you won't learn much from the university. The placement scenario is pathetic and more than 30% of the students remain unplaced. The highest salary package offered is 6 LPA and the top recruiters include Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL, etc. Students get placed in minor roles in software companies. The infrastructure however isn't that bad and the college has decent lab facilities and a well-stocked library. The hostel facilities are also decent and the food served is good.  Unless you are satisfied with a low package below INR 10 LPA, it's better to look for a better college.Read more

Ques. can I get admission in CGC Landran through PTU Counseling for CSE branch from outside Punjab of the general category? I got a 200000 rank in the JEE Mains but I got 68 percent in boards.

Ans. CGC Landran is a private engineering college located in Punjab, India. The admission process for the college is conducted through JEE Main and Punjab Technical University (PTU) counseling. As per the JEE Main rank mentioned by you, it is difficult to get admission to the CSE branch in CGC Landran. However, the final decision regarding admission will depend on various factors such as the number of available seats, the number of applicants, and the cutoff score. As per the admission rules, PTU colleges cannot admit students until the online admission is completed. Only the remaining are given admission directly. Usually, students don’t apply online. If you are adamant about PTU, go only to the PTU main campus or Guru Nanak Engg College Ludhiana. CGC should not be given much preference as it is all about inflated figures and misleading statistics. Read more

Ans. KIIT will take all of your parents' hard-earned money. They will allow your entire batch to sit in some 2 to 4 average companies through campus placement, but if you want to work for any services-based IT company, you can get admission to KIIT. If GATE/IES/PSU is your goal, it is best to study in a college that is close to your home and has lower fees. HBTI is the best not only in UP but across the country, with an excellent alumni base dating back to 1921. Each year, the best students from UP attend this prestigious institute. IET is not bad, but when compared to HBTI, it falls short in terms of placements, alumni base, academics, and so on.Read more

Ans. HBTI IT will be better than IET Lucknow CSE. It offers better placements. All the companies that visit HBTI campus to recruit students from CSE, also allow students from IT branch to sit for placements.  Here are the recent highlights of HBTI placements. Ques. What should I prefer: Mechanical Engineering at HBTI, Kanpur or CSE at IET, Lucknow?

Ans. Both of the institutions are situated at a distance of 80 km from each other. IET Lucknow is situated in the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh and the HBTI Kanpur is situated in the Political capital. If you live in one of the two cities, you can choose accordingly; otherwise, this factor has no significance. According to AKTU, both the institutes are ranked at number 1 and number 2 in UP, but the situation is completely different analytically. HBTI is a well-known institution and has been the parent institute of IIT Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh Textile Institute.  Both the institutes are government-run with complete control over examinations and the curriculum of courses offered by them. If you enjoy programming, Computer Science would be the appropriate course for you, while Mechanical Engineering is for those who want to acquire a genuine sense of what engineering is all about. The faculty of IET Lucknow is better than that of HBTI.  You will have numerous opportunities outside the campus. The placement statistics for the mechanical department are not very good at both institutes, but placement in the CS department is extremely good. Make your decision based on the branch and not the institution as it would have a major impact on your career. Read more

Ans. Choosing a particular college or a department actually depends on you, and how you want to shape your career ahead. Having known some people who study in both these institutions, I can say that they all have their fair share of strengths and weaknesses.  I might not be able to help you select one among them, because they are both good in their own ways. So, I will share some information about them which might help you make the choice. ECE at IET Lucknow has one of the finest faculty. They also have a great student crowd. HBTU also has highly experienced faculty members. Placements at HBTU are also much better than IET Lucknow. The enrolled candidates of the GATE exam are really great. They also offer a vast alumni network unlike IET. Categories Electrical Engineering at HBTU ECE at IET Lucknow Course Fee 5.17 lakhs 3.44 lakhs Highest CTC 29 LPA 18 LPA Average CTC 16 LPA 8-9 LPA Recruiting Companies Phillips, Havells, TCS, Aditya Birla, etc. TCS, DE Shaw, Barclays, Code Nation, etc. It is suggested that you go for the more experienced institute, as it will prove to be better for your career ahead.
