I’ll suggest you go for Mechanical at IIT Dhanbad.  Although the Placements in 2024 are still ongoing, the average package of the 2023 mechanical branch stands at INR 14.74 LPA, while the placement percentage is 83.52%. Some of the top companies that have given placements this year at IIT Dhanbad are- Accenture, Ericsson, Flipkart, Siemens, and Wiley Edge. Ans. ISM Dhanbad's cutoff for CSE for the general category during the last round of counselling sessions in 2023 was 3258. In 2022, it was 3009 and in 2021 it was 2968. For the OBC category in 2023, the last closing rank was 1190, in 2022 it was 1056 and in 220211 it was 885. Six rounds of counseling sessions take place and you will be allotted seats according to seat availability and your rank. CSE is a popular branch at ISM Dhanbad. Students have to secure a minimum of 75% marks in their boards eligible for admission. Furthermore, students have to clear the JEE Main examination and get a rank higher than the cut-off rank in the JEE Advanced examination. Read more

Ans. As a former student of Mineral Engineering at IIT Dhanbad, I will offer some insight into my department- Advantages The number of lectures and syllabus of Mineral Engineering are quite manageable. With some effort, you’ll easily score a good CGPA in all your semesters. The course will give you free time to study for CAT/GRE/UPSC, or to practice coding. The department allows more freedom to enjoy campus life and perform other activities on the side. Disadvantages You can’t write the GATE exam. Very few core companies visit the campus, and the placement scenario is in a poor state for Mineral students. However, with good communication skills and an 8+ CGPA, you can hope to get placed in a good organization. The curriculum is light, so you’ll severely lag behind foreign university students. The package offered to Mineral students stands nowhere compared to that grabbed by CSE students. But despite the disadvantages, you’ll have to make peace with the fact that your rank isn’t enough for CSE. Also, not everyone in CSE performs exceptionally.  Mineral Engineering (especially at IIT Dhanbad) has very limited scope, but it offers you ample freedom and time to work on your skills and build your future. Read more

Ans. Hi...Ok...so Instrumentation and Control Engineering is a unique, circuit-oriented branch, and the academic structure at NIT Trichy is excellent, making you eligible for most companies that visit campus. Placements are decent. This branch has a good scope as well. If you're not familiar with what it entails, it focuses on sensor manufacturing. Just look around you and see how many sensors are part of your daily life. That's the potential! You might feel at some point that you left the core branch of Mechanical Engineering, which is also offered at MNNIT Allahabad. It's definitely an evergreen branch; you'll always find opportunities in the market, no matter the situation. People are generally more aware of Mechanical Engineering, but few know about Instrumentation and Control Engineering if you ask around. NIT Trichy is ranked higher than MNNIT Allahabad in every aspect. NIT Trichy is ranked 1st, while MNNIT Allahabad is around 4th or 5th, if I remember correctly. I chose NIT Trichy over MNNIT Allahabad, and being from U.P., I can confidently say it was the right decision. I opted for Metallurgy at NIT Trichy over other branches at MNNIT Allahabad. I wasn't getting any core branch there, by the way. I've learned and improved in many ways that I wouldn't have otherwise.Read more
