Ques. What is the eligibility for BPH at JNMC/KAHER? Can Arts or Commerce students apply?
Ans. Yes, the BPH program is open to students from any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) who have passed 10+2 (PUC) with a minimum of 45% marks. This makes it one of the few health science programs accessible to non-science students.
Ques. What is KAHER-AIET and how is it conducted?
Ans. KAHER-AIET (All India Entrance Test) is the university-level entrance exam conducted by KAHER for admission to BPH and other allied health science programs. It is conducted online (proctored) for non-Karnataka students and online centre-based at Belagavi, Hubballi, or Bengaluru for Karnataka students. The exam is typically held in May each year.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after completing BPH from JNMC/KAHER?
Ans. BPH graduates can work with international organizations (WHO, UNICEF, UNDP), government health departments, national research institutions (ICMR, PHFI, NIN), NGOs (KHPT, UNFPA), and MNCs. They can also pursue higher studies such as MPH, MBA (Hospital Management), or PhD in Public Health.
Ques. Is there a lateral entry option for BPH at JNMC?
Ans. Yes, candidates with a Diploma in Health Inspector (DHI) are eligible for lateral entry into the BPH program. They should check the specific lateral entry process and eligibility with the KAHER admissions office.
Ques. What is the total fee for the BPH program at JNMC/KAHER?
Ans. The annual tuition fee is INR 51,000, making the total tuition fee for the 3-year program INR 1,53,000. Additional charges (examination, library, hostel, etc.) are applicable separately.
Ques. Does the BPH program at JNMC include field training and internship?
Ans. Yes, the BPH curriculum includes mandatory field visits to PHCs, sub-centres, anganwadis, hospitals, sewage treatment plants, and other public health institutions throughout the program. A mini project (internship) in the 6th semester is a compulsory component for the award of the degree.
