Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech regular and B.Tech Lateral Entry at BVCOE?
Ans. B.Tech regular is a 4-year programme starting from the 1st semester, while B.Tech Lateral Entry is a 3-year programme where diploma holders directly join the 2nd year (3rd semester). The degree awarded is the same B.Tech degree with no distinction. Lateral Entry students save one year of study and fees compared to the regular route.
Ques. Which diploma branches are eligible for B.Tech Lateral Entry ECE at BVCOE?
Ans. Diploma holders in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and related disciplines from AICTE-approved polytechnics are eligible. Candidates with a B.Sc. degree with Physics and Mathematics may also be eligible as per GGSIPU norms.
Ques. Is there a separate entrance exam for B.Tech Lateral Entry at BVCOE?
Ans. No, there is no separate entrance exam for B.Tech Lateral Entry at BVCOE. Admission is based on diploma percentage/marks through GGSIPU centralised Lateral Entry counselling. Candidates register on the GGSIPU admission portal and participate in counselling based on their diploma merit.
Ques. Are Lateral Entry students at BVCOE eligible for campus placements?
Ans. Yes, Lateral Entry students are fully integrated into the regular B.Tech programme from the 3rd semester and are eligible for all campus placement drives, internships, and Training and Placement Cell activities. There is no distinction between regular and Lateral Entry students for placement purposes.
Ques. What is the seat intake for B.Tech Lateral Entry ECE at BVCOE?
Ans. The Lateral Entry seats are typically 10% of the sanctioned intake of the regular programme, as per AICTE norms. For ECE (regular intake of 60 seats), approximately 6 Lateral Entry seats are available, subject to GGSIPU and AICTE approval for the respective academic year.
Ques. Can Lateral Entry students at BVCOE participate in technical clubs and student activities?
Ans. Yes, Lateral Entry students can participate in all technical clubs and student activities at BVCOE, including IEEE BVCOE, IET, OPTiCA, ACM, GFG Student Chapter, and others. They are treated as regular students of the 3rd semester batch and have full access to all college facilities and activities.
