BVM Gujarat M.Tech Admissions FAQs

Ques. If my GATE score is low, do I still have a chance of getting M.Tech admission at BVM Gujarat through ACPC counselling?

Ans. Yes. BVM Gujarat often witnesses cutoff relaxation in later rounds of ACPC counselling, especially for core branches like Mechanical, Electrical, and Production Engineering, as some candidates opt for higher-preference institutes or withdraw after initial rounds.

Ques. Does BVM Gujarat give preference to fresh graduates over working professionals for M.Tech admissions?

Ans. No. BVM Gujarat treats fresh graduates and working professionals equally during the admission process. Selection is based on GATE score and counselling merit, and relevant industry experience does not negatively impact admission chances.

BVM Gujarat Admission FAQs

Ques. What is the reservation for minority students at BVM Gujarat?

Ans. At BVM Gujarat, seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the reserved category.

Category Seat Reserved from Total Seats
Scheduled Caste 7%
Scheduled Tribe 15%
OBC 27%
Unreserved Economically Weaker Section 10%
Physically Disabled Category 3%
Children of Defence Personnel & Ex-Servicemen 1%

Ques. Is BVM Gujarat a good option if my GUJCET rank is average and not top-tier?

Ans. Yes. BVM Gujarat is known for accommodating mid-range GUJCET ranks, especially in branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Production Engineering. Many students with average ranks secure seats in later ACPC rounds or through self-financed programs.

Ques. Do self-financed B.Tech courses at BVM Gujarat differ in quality or placement opportunities?

Ans. Academically, there is no major difference. The syllabus, faculty, exams, and degree awarded are the same. However, hostel availability and seat competition may vary slightly, and placements depend more on individual performance than on whether the seat is government-aided or self-financed.

Ques. Is it worth waiting for later ACPC rounds for BVM Gujarat, or should I lock my seat early?

Ans. If your rank is borderline for your preferred branch, waiting can be beneficial. Cutoffs at BVM often drop in Round 2 and mop-up rounds as students shift to higher-ranked institutes. However, if you already have a core branch seat, locking early is usually safer.

Ques. Can students from outside Gujarat get admission to BVM Gujarat?

Ans. Yes, but opportunities are limited. Most seats are reserved for Gujarat domicile candidates through GUJCET. Non-Gujarat students may get chances in management or vacant seats during later counselling rounds, depending on availability.

Ques. What are the exam fees that students are required to pay for admission at BVM Gujarat?

Ans. The GATE  fee is INR 1800 for General/OBC male candidates and INR 900 for female SC, ST, and PwD candidates. For BVM, the application fee for both MTech and PhD is INR 500 for general students and INR 250 for reserved candidates

AI-Generated Summary based on 246 Reviews

Admission to the B.Tech program in Mechanical Engineering at Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College involves several pathways. Primarily, admission is through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) counselling, based on Gujarat 12th board results or GUJCET scores. The ACPC counselling is mandatory for government-aided seats, and the typical cutoff for admission via ACPC is around a rank of 18,000 for mechanical engineering. For self-financed seats, students may use management or NRI quota options.

Additionally, students can qualify through JEE Main scores, with a preference for higher percentiles. An above-80 percentile in JEE may enhance admission chances, especially in self-financed sections. Management quota facilitates direct admission if not securing through regular ACPC counselling. Students should have their original documents ready for the admission process. The college supports diverse pathways, including options for direct and management quota entry, making entry accessible under different criteria.
