Government Engineering College Barton Hill honest review

Likes

Supportive technical and non technical staff
Working and maintained lab facilities for all departments
Students are likeminded and supportive in academics and otherwise

Dislikes

No ground for sports or other activities
Not much space in the campus so it might feel conjusted relative to other campuses
There could be sometimes frequent political conflicts within the campus

Placement Experience:

Placements are fine but not that great. For our department I'd say its fine since its IT but for other departments there arent many options so they end up sitting for IT placements as well. There are a decent amount of offers some students opt for higher studies or off campus placements.

G.E.C. PALAMU : A. Brief Overview .

Likes

Professors are very cooperative.They will be ready to help you as much they can from their side.
Seniors are also very helpful. Will help you in study , clubs participation.
Campus is lush green and mesh food is somewhat close to home food.

Dislikes

Not much to explore in college as because the campus according to me is not much big
No canteen facility . You have to go outside the college for buying your daily stuffs .
Girls to boys ratio is too much low ,it's about 20:80, and this also when the attendance is full

Internships Opportunities:

As I am in the first year , I don't know much about the internships program offered here . But I talked to one of our seniors , he said that.he got to work for the TCS for around 4 months .the intership program was from the college side.

Likes

Building need to be improved with more facilities
My engagement with campus life and the quality of social interactions was good
Good placements are offered from this college

Dislikes

Teaching staffs could be a bit more friendly
Transportation was a concern since the college buses were minimal
Good canteen could have been provided for students

Placement Experience:

Very good placement cell. Placement cell officer is very committed and gives his best effort for getting the institution involved in every companies. Around 100 companies came this year. The percentage of students getting placed is around 70%.

Faculties are very friendly and cooperative.
Good lab facilities for all departments to do practicals.
All courses are accredited by national board of accreditation.It is very useful for students going for higher education.

Dislikes

Small infrastructure and limited space in campus.
There is no ground for practicing games like football and others.
Bad conditions of road facilities inside campus.

Internships Opportunities:

Many companies are coming for placements and giving internships to students for training.I applied for an virtual internship in prodigy infotech company in the domain cyber security.It is an unpaid internship spanning for 4 weeks.

Likes

Being a government college, students have complete freedom inside the campus.
Faculties are very supportive in academics.
College facilities are accessible until night time.

Dislikes

No ground for conducting sports activities.
Management support is not good. Students have to address all problems on their own.
Extracurricular activities are not very active.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from seventh semester for all departments. Companies hire students especially from IT and EC departments. Core companies are rare and IT companies which are service based are the mass recruiters in our college.

The freedom and independence we had, beit in dressing or curfews or attending classes
Very good academic and social life balance, with events from technical societies and Ss and clubs frequently
Highly active technical societies like IEEE CSI ASME and ISTE even in regional and global levels.

Dislikes

Hectic academic calendar, but the university frames it, not the college

Placement Experience:

Students from their pre final year are eligible for placements. Core companies like Visteon and BEL had come, with most companies having software, banking, edutech and marketing background. Around 3.4 to 6LPA packages, and in some cases eve more. Around 60 percent of students in my class including me got placed. My plan is to go for an MTech.

Likes

I liked the competition that I received fromy my classmates and by other people from other classes, I liked how we were so competitive
I liked the ambience of the college, eventhough the college area was not that big, its nature and the climate was too good.
I liked the way events were held at college, they were all fun and interesting.

Dislikes

I really didn't like some of the faculities, they taught us really bad.
The college was crouded because the area was small
I didn't like the place where the college was setup, it was too inside city.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester studentsare eligible for placements,the various companies like dell, bosch nokia, amazon etc have came for placements, total offers in 2022 were 450, The highest package is around 10 lakh, percentage of placed students is 10 percent, My plan is to pursue masters from IIT

Government Engineering College Barton HIll

Likes

There are many things that you would like about the college, for me it was the supporting faculties that had taught us during the due course. Their affection towards our class as a whole along with their thorough mentorship iwas so sholesome.
Men's Hostel facilities were not available in the campus .So we had to stay in a rented house .It was the foremost thing I liked about being in a college.The memories and its musings are still nostalgic.

Dislikes

There is no playground in the campus due to lack of alloted space.The cultural events are hence held on other grounds.
The lack of men's hostel in the campus can be considered as a huge setback for the campus. students occassionaly face challenges in finding proper places to stay.
There is only a limited parking facility available in the campus. Whenever there is a program being conducted, it is all about the fuzz then.

Internships Opportunities:

There are currently no internships provided by the college. The students have to look at different companies and government offices to undergo internships. There are various internships provided by the PWD office which is in close proximity to the college.

Likes

The campus life is one should experience. The college is active and lively
The students and classmate of different departments all interact with each other. It is a peaceful environment
The programs and fest are wonderful and the AAGNEYA fest is conducted in a grand manner

Dislikes

The faculty is very bad and they only focus on academics.
The infrastructure is currently undergoing construction. Which makes the college very noisy
The facilties are take a step back due the undergoing construction

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for campus placement starting from 4th year onwards. The companies that come for placements are mainly in the IT field. Placements for civil and mech are comparatively less than other departments. The percentage of students getting placed are less than 50%

Friends ,In Mechanical department all are equal.
There is no groupism or other things among them and also seniors are helpful
Some teachers are very good at teaching for teaching in a government college i will recommend bartonhill

Dislikes

Mainly Principal ,she is like a private school tr
She will not approve any kind of fests etc
Also very rude in attendance So that many students are disappointed

Internships Opportunities:

I think there are internships but i Dont many know about it ,But some seniors are doing there own companies here all are becoming great engineers not only academics they are actually increasing there skillss
