SSIM PGDM (BA) FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between PGDM (Triple Specialisation) and PGDM (Business Analytics) at SSIM?
Ans. The PGDM (Triple Specialisation) is a general management programme with 180 seats where students choose a Major, Minor, and Sectoral specialisation from 50+ electives. The PGDM (Business Analytics) is a specialised programme with only 60 seats, focused specifically on data analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence. The BA programme has additional eligibility requirements related to quantitative/technical academic backgrounds and is designed for students who want to build a career at the intersection of management and data science.
Ques. Do I need a technical background (like Engineering or B.Sc.) to apply for PGDM Business Analytics at SSIM?
Ans. A technical background is preferred but not strictly mandatory. Candidates from Engineering, B.Sc. (Maths/Physics/Statistics), B.Com (Computers/Analytics), or BBA (Analytics) are the primary target audience. However, candidates from any stream can also apply if they have scored 60% or above in the Data Interpretation and Numerical Ability section of any accepted entrance exam (CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/ATMA/GMAT/TS ICET). Strong quantitative aptitude is the key criterion.
Ques. What tools and technologies will I learn in the PGDM Business Analytics programme?
Ans. The programme provides hands-on training in R Programming, Python, SQL, and Tableau. Core subjects include Data Visualization, Machine Learning, Predictive Modelling, and Big Data Analytics. Students also work on real-world projects and industry internships, gaining practical experience with live business data and analytics challenges.
Ques. What kind of jobs can I get after completing PGDM Business Analytics from SSIM?
Ans. Graduates of the PGDM BA programme are placed in roles such as Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Financial Data and Research Analyst, Associate Analyst, and Management Trainee (Analytics). Key recruiters include The Hackett Group, Berkadia, Metrics4Analytics, S&P Global, GlobalData, and Deloitte. Roles are available across BFSI, consulting, fintech, and technology sectors.
Ques. Is the PGDM Business Analytics at SSIM worth it compared to a regular MBA in Analytics from other institutes?
Ans. SSIM's PGDM BA is AICTE-approved and NBA-accredited, which gives it strong credibility. With only 60 seats, the programme offers a focused learning environment. The placement record (98.74% placement, average 7.25 LPA) is competitive for a Hyderabad-based B-school at this fee level. For students specifically targeting analytics roles in BFSI or consulting, this programme offers a good combination of management education and technical analytics skills at a reasonable cost of Rs. 8,40,000 for two years.
Ques. Can I switch from PGDM Business Analytics to PGDM Triple Specialisation after joining SSIM?
Ans. Programme switching after admission is generally not permitted at SSIM, as both programmes have separate intakes, curricula, and eligibility criteria. Students should carefully evaluate their career goals before choosing between the two programmes. If you are unsure about committing to an analytics-focused career, the PGDM Triple Specialisation with its broader elective choices may be a safer option.
