XIMB Ex-PGDM FAQs
Ques. Is the EPGDM-VIL program equivalent to an MBA degree? Will it be recognized by employers?
Ans. The EPGDM-VIL is a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, not an MBA degree. However, it is awarded by XIM University (formerly XIMB), a well-recognized institution, and carries significant brand value. Most employers in India recognize PGDM programs from reputed B-schools as equivalent to an MBA for career advancement purposes. Participants also receive alumni status of Xavier Institute of Management upon completion, which adds to the credential's value.
Ques. Do I need to take CAT, XAT, or GMAT to apply for the EPGDM-VIL program?
Ans. No. The EPGDM-VIL program does not require any entrance exam. Admission is based on your academic record, a Letter of Recommendation from your organization, performance in the Virtual Collaboration Challenge (VCC), and a Virtual Interview. This makes it accessible to working professionals who may not have appeared for management entrance exams.
Ques. How much time commitment is required per week? Can I manage it alongside a demanding job?
Ans. The program requires approximately 8-10 hours of commitment per week. Live sessions are held during weekends, and tutorial videos (200+) can be accessed at your convenience through the XIM Learning Management System (XLMS) on mobile, tablet, or desktop. Most participants manage it alongside full-time jobs, though it does require disciplined time management, especially during project submissions and end-term exams.
Ques. What is the Campus Connect program, and is attendance mandatory?
Ans. The Campus Connect is a 6-day residential program held on the XIMB campus, typically towards the end of the course. It includes Capstone Simulations, Design Thinking workshops, Leadership Assessment, and networking with faculty and fellow participants. Attendance is mandatory as it is an integral part of the curriculum. Lodging and boarding during Campus Connect are included in the program fee, but participants must bear their own travel expenses to Bhubaneswar.
Ques. Is the EPGDM-VIL program suitable for someone looking to switch careers or industries?
Ans. The program is primarily designed to help working professionals deepen their management knowledge and move into senior roles within their current domain. While it does provide cross-functional exposure through electives and live projects, it does not offer a formal placement cell. Career transitions are possible through the XIMB alumni network and self-driven networking, but the program is best suited for those seeking vertical growth rather than a complete career switch.
Ques. What is the difference between the EPGDM-VIL and the one-year full-time EMBA-BM at XIMB?
Ans. The EPGDM-VIL is a part-time, online program (weekends only) that does not require a career break, costs Rs. 3.89 lakh, and does not require an entrance exam. The EMBA-BM is a one-year full-time residential program that requires a sabbatical from work, costs Rs. 15.50 lakh, and requires CAT/XAT/GMAT/XGMT scores. The EMBA-BM awards a degree (Executive MBA), while the EPGDM-VIL awards a diploma. Both confer XIMB alumni status. The choice depends on your ability to take a career break and your budget.
