XIMB MBA-BM FAQs

Ques. What is the XAT cut-off for XIMB MBA-BM? What percentile do I need?

Ans. XIMB does not officially publish a fixed XAT cut-off. Based on past trends and student reports, a XAT percentile of around 85-90+ is generally required to be shortlisted for WAT/GD/PI. However, the final selection also considers section-wise performance, academic record, work experience, and WAT/GD/PI performance. Candidates with strong profiles (good academics, work experience) may get shortlisted at slightly lower percentiles.

Ques. Is work experience mandatory for the MBA-BM program at XIMB?

Ans. No, work experience is not mandatory for the MBA-BM program. Fresh graduates are eligible and form a significant portion of each batch. However, work experience is considered a positive factor in the selection process and can strengthen a candidate's profile during GD/PI.

Ques. What is the batch size and diversity profile of the MBA-BM program?

Ans. The MBA-BM batch at XIMB typically has around 180 students. The batch has a diverse mix of engineering, commerce, science, and arts graduates. Ans. Yes. XIMB has student exchange programs with partner universities in Europe, including the University of Antwerp (Belgium), SGH Warsaw (Poland), EUROMED Marseille (France), IESEG Lille (France), and REIMS Management School (France). Students who participate in exchange programs get credit transfer for courses completed at partner universities. The exchange typically happens in the second year.

Ques. What are the top elective specializations available in the MBA-BM program?

Ans. The MBA-BM program at XIMB offers 60+ electives across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Strategy, IT, and Economics. Popular elective clusters include Finance (Security Analysis, Investment Banking, Corporate Restructuring, Derivatives), Marketing (Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Neuromarketing), Operations (Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Project Management), and IT (AI in Business, Digital Transformation, ERP). Students choose electives in groups, ensuring breadth across domains.

Ques. How does XIMB's MBA-BM compare to other top B-schools in terms of ROI?

Ans. XIMB's MBA-BM offers strong ROI given its total fee of approximately Rs. 25 lakh and an average placement of Rs. 18.25 LPA (2025). The payback period is typically 1.5 to 2 years. Compared to IIMs (fees Rs. 20-25 lakh, average Rs. 25-35 LPA) and XLRI (fees Rs. 28-30 lakh, average Rs. 30+ LPA), XIMB offers competitive placements at a relatively lower fee, making it one of the best value-for-money options among top-20 B-schools in India. I have been shortlisted for DCP program in IMT G and MBA BM in XIMB? Which one would be better among the two?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

I would say that you should definitely choose XIMB.

It's their primary program, and it will be much better than IMT G's DCP program. Just because of cost. The DCP program has fees that are over 22 lakhs and an average package of around 9 lakhs per annum. In contrast, the XIMB BM program has an average package of 13 lakhs per annum and fees of 15.40 lakhs for two years. Also, keep in mind that the DCP program is still new, so there won't be much support from the business.

I would have considered IMT G if it was a full-time program. If you can move up to IMT Ghaziabad and want to get an MBA with a focus on marketing and entrepreneurship courses, you should choose IMT Ghaziabad. But the DCP course fee isn't worth it for the same opportunity unless you want to work abroad, especially in Dubai.

How good is XIMB BM for a person with following academics, 10th-95, 12-92.8, and BE (2017)-85, and with work experience of 6 months till April? Should one join it at this stage?

Karishma MohantyMBA Business Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2020)

With such good scores, no one would suggest you join XIMB though it is a pretty good college and reputed too. You should give a shot to old IIMs.

To get into old IIMs, you must score at least 99+ in the CAT exam, but if you have a score of 95+ also, you will land up in one of the new IIMs. Apart from the IIMs, there are other B-schools as well which are pretty demanding and rank high in MHRD ranking such as SP Jain Institute of Management, MDI Gurugram, etc. These institutes are also in the same league as old IIMs.

In a nutshell, you should continue with your job and give the CAT exam to score the 99+ percentile. You will be able to get a better college than XIMB. If you are capable of getting something better, why settle for anything normal. Just re-think upon it and have faith in yourself.
