Admission to the college begins after the counseling process, where candidates finalize their choices. Document verification happens separately. Students securing admission through JEE Mains are prioritized in the first round, submitting document photocopies and paying the first semester fees. Classes start roughly a month after completing admissions. The faculty includes some PhD holders and graduates on contract. Despite a teacher shortage, the faculty is supportive, with the civil branch being especially commendable.
Faculty is rated 8 out of 10, though more focus on serious study is suggested for mechanical and CSE departments. The course structure follows a branch-specific syllabus with a standard exam and marking scheme. The annual fee is 50,000 INR, considered affordable compared to private and some government colleges, although higher than other city institutions. Scholarships and fee relaxations are available for certain categories, with exemptions for Jammu & Kashmir students.
Placements are strongest in CSE and IT departments, with about 60% of students securing jobs, particularly from EC and CSE branches. Companies like Microsoft, Tata Steel, and TCS participate in placements. Salary packages range from a minimum of 3 lakhs to a maximum of 10-12 lakhs, with notable offers for civil engineering students at 9 lakhs. Placement eligibility begins in the 7th semester, with pre-placement classes from the 5th semester.
The college offers on-campus and off-campus placements but not internships or training directly. Some students secure paid internships with companies like Google and Microsoft. Scholarships are available for students with a WBJEE rank up to 500 and a minimum of 60% in PCM, with around 70% of students benefiting from government scholarship schemes. Additional financial aid is provided through laptop and education loans via SBI Bank.
